Why steam removed the deluxe edition?
Assassin's creed 2 deluxe edition was on steam as the default edition sadly I wanted to buy it on the next Black Friday but by the time the deluxe edition was replaced by standard edition with no explanation the funny part that Ubisoft themselves don't know why it was removed or when it will be available again!

Yes, only the base game is playable, deluxe, uplay rewards etc will not activate anymore. If you activated in the past and/or have a save file with the content it should still work (did for me on uplay version few days after server shut down).
I wanted the deluxe edition for the DLCs only not the rewards why would Ubisoft do that and I sent a ticket to them, they have no idea if the deluxe edition will come back again or not, So if I bought a steam code from any store I still don't have access for the DLCs, am I right?
if so what should I do to get it?
You can no longer activate the DLC or any extra content unless you previously had them (even then theres a chance it no longer works properly), you can not acquire this content on any official copy of the game anymore.

Because they shut down the servers so the DLC no longer works, they didn't even reduce the price...

Game is old, doesn't make much money, stuff like that so they shut the servers down and the support team for these companies is usually really out of touch or are not provided with proper information and you know how they work anyways, they just gotta make it sound easy and nice so they never go into technical detail about what the problem is.

Hey there guys!

Just to officially confirm that tyl0413 is correct.

In June the decision was made officially retire the online services for Assassin's Creed II.[www.ubisoft.com]

As the Deluxe Edition content needs to be activated / redeemed in-game, using the online services it's no longer accessible.

Those who've already unlocked it and have an existing save can still access it, however new players just purchasing the game won't be able to redeem the content and thus the Deluxe Edition has been delisted from Steam to stop players being able to purchase an incomplete version of the game.

We apologise for any disappointment or inconvenience caused by the game's servers being brought offline and if there is anything more we can help with at all, please let us know.

Thank you!
