Xbox One controller - A button opening and closing menu

I'm using an Xbox One controller to play, but the A button causes the in-game menu to appear, but it also causes the menu to close as well. None of the buttons seem to select the menu options.

I've checked the controller config screen and I'm setup to use the default mappings.

it's because of the gamepad configuration in gamecontrollerdb.txt in the game's folder. Now, good luck figuring WHICH badly set configuration is causing the issue.

My game works great with the xbox controller plugged into the pc, but when I try to use big picture the game controller sucks as you described. I also got it from epic games, but I am trying to use my steam link I bought last summer.

heh... I just now added it to my steam library as a non-steam game, by linking steam to the local game's exe and my xbox controller now works perfectly. Woot!

So perhaps worth trying running the game without the overlay, maybe that will work around the defect.

Had the same issue. Try disabling Steam Desktop Controller: Steam -> Settings -> Controller -> Desktop Configuration -> Browse Configs -> Disabled -> Apply Configuration.
