Error Code 1

Bought, installed, ... sucked.
Can't start, can't play. It says "Error Code 1".
Win7, 64, no special, fresh install last week.

Problem solved.
Check your path where the game is installed. Go to "redist".
Run "UbisoftGameLauncherInstaller.exe"
Register and blabla, yadayada.
Game works.

Great! On wndows 7, just start typing "ubisoftg...." on the Search area, and that utility will appear, no need to even look for it.

Finally got it working on Windows 8!

Steps:
* Install the UPlay program: http://uplay.ubi.com/en-GB
* Login to UPlay, and then CLOSE IT!
* Open Your Steam folder (Proabbly along the lines: C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Conviction\src\system).
* Right click conviction_game.exe and choose "Troubleshoot Compatability"
* Choose "Troubleshoot Program"
* Choose "The program worked in an earlier version of Windows..."
* Choose "Windows 7"
* Next, then Test (It may not work here, but that's OK)
* Next, then "Yes..."
* Close the Troubleshooter
* Check that you really did close the UPlay program!
* Launch via Steam
* Then launch again from UPlay once it's loaded
* Enjoy!

I guess ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and I have a different idea of what constitutes letters and numbers for a password. ♥♥♥♥ it. Games uninstalled. I want my money back.

Is there a list of games that require this third party registration crap. I'd like to see it. I'll avoid buying any of those games.
