Report a translation problem
Apparantly, one fix is to get retail version game files, and apply the standalone patch to that, re-transferring it back into the steam version directory (I won't go through the process for that). This hasn't been a fix i've tested yet.
Please go to Steam Support and complain that this issue hasn't been fixed yet, and that the game should not be described as co-op/multiplayer able when there is still a peneding pre-2012 bug.
I hear that people have had to go to Ubisoft support (which is even worse in response time) and ask for a new CD Key to fix this issue as well.
