I mean there's plenty of videos and reviews out there that you could've looked at before buying a 8 years old game, you would've known it is very different from the first splinter cell games.

Different folks, different strokes, I guess. I recently got it on Xbox One as it's now backwards compatible, and just bought a copy on Steam to play coop. I played an unhealthy amount of this years ago, and I'm back for more. And I say this as someone who loved Chaos Theory, too. I guess I just take it for what it is, and not compare it too closely to the previous entries.

I am not talking about looks. I don't like the gameplay. I think i should be able to be more stealthy, but there is no reward for putting in the effort. The missions are setup for pretty direct assaults. So I just post up, toss a nade, then shoot them all.

While I generally agree with your criticism of the game, I just want to point out that while a game may not force you to play a certain way, that doesn't necessarily mean that you can't play that way. You want to play it stealthy? Then go ahead and play stealthy. You don't need to get a reward for it. (Except for some parts in the game, which you already mentioned, that are very difficult to do stealthy, if not impossible to do stealthy).

You can but some parts of the game aren't designed out it. Heck most of the tools and gadgets are built around assault.

Which you'll notice I acknowleged in my comment. What mainly comes to mind is the war flashback mission. However, I've always viewed Conviction as a continuation of the Splinter Cell narrative, but not the gameplay. The Fisher that the player takes control of in Conviction is a vastly different person than the Fisher in Pandora Tomorrow or Chaos Theory. A much more aggressive person, with not much to lose. And I think that the gameplay in Conviction really works well with the narrative that was written for the game. That being said, I can completely understand why fans of the first 3 games may feel that this game doesn't live up to the title. I happen to respectully disagree.

And I'm not sure what you're refering to. I said that he doesn't have anything to lose. Which is quite different from the first three games.
