Frame Generation Issue
Hi Folks,

I was away on holiday for 2 weeks - came back updated to the latest nvidia driver 596.49, as well as updating crimson desert.

However, the game is almost unplayable with FG now, if I am around the camp site with FG enabled the stutter is crazy, GPU utilization is all over the place, especially when panning the camera. I never had a single issue whatsoever before. It's okay out of the camp sometimes, but its not perfect. Anyone have any idea for a fix other than turn off FG. I play in 4K with RR enabled so it helped out a bit at 2X and worked well. I have done a complete DDU of the latest drivers, making sure shader comp restarts, no luck. I also have v-sync disabled.

Specs :

9950X3D
RTX 5090
32GB Ram
X670E Hero

Appreciate any help!

Kind regards

It sounds like Low Latency is set to Ultra. Change to Off or ON never use Ultra. If that ain't it do this.

In this order: 1)nvapp, graphics, global settings, hit RESTORE. 2)Then switch to program settings, Crimson Desert, hit RESTORE. Don't change anything and play the game. That should fix it.

Thanks brother - have tried this as well. Still no luck . However, I've only noticed the severe stutter literally in The Greymanes Camp in Hernand. Everywhere else seems fine. Sometimes as well as going up to vendors. It's playable as long as I don't visit the camp. Very strange. But as soon as I turn FG off in the camp , no issues at all. Appreciate the reply though.
Same drivers, same GPU and i also play 4K maxed with RR. Not had any such issues myself, very odd.
Maybe there’s a shader file causing a conflict in some temporary folder for Nvidia or the game. I don’t have an Nvidia card, but I remember reading about cases like that.
I'm also having the exact same issue. Don't know how to fix it other than turning FG off.
The latest Nvidia driver idiotically set all 3 DLSS settings (DLSS, Frame gen, super res) as "global - off", just manually reactivate it to "use 3D app setting" or "Global - on"
There is no global off option for dlss. It's overriding that causes issues for most people issues. So set it to "use 3d app setting" not "global use 3d app setting" as global may or may not actually work. The app has issues using global quite often. I confirm this with every driver via nvprofileinspector and it's still an issue. Now if you hit global Restore then the game and restore it will say "global use 3d app setting" and be set correctly.
Same issue here in my 5080 9800x3d

Issue has been resolved with the latest patch today! Thankfully. If it's still not working enabling 'Smooth Motion' on the Nvidia control panel worked in the meantime. But just tested now with in game FG and all is working.
Yeah their f_cked up FG with the last to patches. Have the same problem now. Play for now with RR off and FG off. Hope their fix that.

Run DDU in safe mode, uninstall drivers. Restart in normal, install latest drivers and select the clean/fresh install option. Restart and try to play again.

Adjust your NVCP settings after i.e. for Crimson Desert, set the power to prefer maximum performance. Leave the rest alone unless you really are sure of what you want to change.

Good luck, hope it works.

I play with RR on with 90-100+ fps, everything maxed and it's smooth for me.
