My guy, Denuvo games are already exploited day 1. You are operating with outdated information.

Denuvo has been cracked via the offline activation method and completely bypassed via the hypervisor 2 method. RE9 was "cracked" day 1, and sales werent affected at all. The reason people are mad is because customers who pre-ordered wanted a game not riddled with malware by a company that literally got in trouble in 2006 for installing rootkits onto customers PCs without disclosing it, back when they were still called SecuROM. The backlash was so bad that they went into hididng for a few years before rebranding themselves as Denuvo to escape their reputation. Which largely worked as most people today have no idea they are the same company. The rootkit couldnt be removed either. The only way to get rid of it was to reinstall your operating system.

Yeah, so you are paying for the privilege to install potential malware onto your computer. Maybe they are doing things above board now? Maybe they arent and just havent been caught? Enjoy your game, my guy.

Do you really think the company will make back their money on what they paid to Denuvo vs those who will cancel because of it vs those that will buy instead of pirate? Denuvo are the best salesmen in the world because it's a sham.

Some of the best selling games out there don't use any DRM like Cyberpunk 2077 and witcher 3 and Baldur's Gate and Expedition 33.

Yeah, I know, it's a concept that's pretty hard for a bot to grasp.

Indie games, which cost 2 to 5 times less, offer a better experience and sell better than those AAA titles that all flop. And they both deserve it.

I already bought the game and I have 18 000 hours in Black desert, spending around $4000 on it. Denuvo tanks performance. It has 0 possitives on end user experience and only negatives. It's a software soly made for investors, not for customers. And to top it off, it doesn't even prevent pirating.

It was kinda obvious you wont get my point, so let me try to rephrase:
You would not do all that, right? Because there are things that are accaptable and things that are not. I used exaggeration for a reason.
Your whole comparison is lacking to begin with but when you start comparing only roughly related things so I can do that as well...

There are too many points not fitting in your comparison like one being a material issue and another an intellectual property.
That sets a completely different statutory basis.
As exaggerated comparisons always do: They try to simplify things but lack in the most important details.

Well lets follow that childish mindset:
There are shops having a lock and there are not (in case you dont believe me: there are trust based shops still on this planet).
There are shops using cameras and there are not.
There are shops using an alarm system, and there are not.
There are shops using security personal and there are not.
There are shops trusting their customers and there are shops that dont.
There are shops that are being robbed on a daily basis and there are some that rarely did, if ever.

Using your questionable example: Any shop using ANY system to prevent theft is NOT SAVE FROM BEING ROBBED!
So any and all arguments "to stop theft" are kinda obsolete.
If the product is worth enough and people are willing to risk it, thievery WILL happen.
You can only minimize to some point.
BUT any owner decides to prevent thievery by using an appropriate level of savety.

So lets assume your sus shop owner expects guaranteed thievery:
Would you be willing to walk into a shop that uses cameras every 3 meters, having security guards everywhere, that allows you to enter only after giving all your personal information (date, birth, adress, bank details) and still being searched + X-rayed at the entrence?!?
No you would not. No one in their right mind would.
You would avoid such a suspicious place like the plague!

UNLESS you need to use a service that has a huge security issue LIKE AN AIRPORT or GOVERNMENT building any security on that level is waaaay over the top!
So yeah, in your amateurish comparison: thats why I am angry - because Denuvo.

It will be pirated regardless. Hypervisor methods exist. It is dangerous, but still, that are the method that some people use. So in a first month maybe two it will be available. And maybe after a year or 2 it will be traditionally cracked. Denuvo does not prevent "piracy".

As for me - in broad scope i couldn't give a less of a f ack about denuvo here. But i will not preorder it, because the way they announced its implementation basically just before release. And now i can't trust any review on performance because now there is a question - did this reviews where made with denuvo in game or not.(And at this, point i don't trust their word that it did)

Some games like Lies of P or Stellar Blade managed to optimize denuvo that it doesn't affect performance, but most games - become a stuttering mess explicitly because of it.

People angry because it is unnecessary software that might cause degraded experience.
