How is it even possible to gain 25k stone, to give them to Carl? I find 250 hard already.

In some caves there are stalactites and stalagmites that can be mined and given for stone.
In the diamond cave by the dragon cave puzzle just below your camp has some, in one run of that cave I get over 1000 camp stone after giving them to Carl. You could get even more if you give him the diamonds you get as well.

I find the best way to get stone for camp supplies is to simply send a dispatch to a cleared mine. I have over 50k by now because I forgot to end the dispatch after a build request lol.

that doesn't count for the quest to deliver stone to Carl

The OP is speaking directly about the Donation tasks. Not resources gained through mission dispatches.

OP:

Various resources give different values. The higher quality of ores and stones increase in value compared to regular stone. Granted, some really hurt to give up, but as someone else mentioned there are alternatives like stalactites.

You have to browse through what resources have the highest values and then hyper focus on gathering those for donation turn ins.

There are several mining missions you can dispatch the greymanes on that reward a few thousand or more per time you do it.
Make sure you dispatch more then the minimum needed and that at least one person is trained for mining at 1-3 ranks.
If you do the amount gathered goes up drastically.

Even very early game just after getting the camp you can get quite a bit this way.

Ah well that's different.

The diamond mine right near the camp could do it since higher tier stuff is worth a lot more.

But that would take a lot respawns and loots of it.

Gems do give quite a bit. Since I've upgraded everything I desired currently, I do my gem runs and diamond run (The crab arena and the mine near camp) and then donate what I gather since they're worth a good chunk.

Same with the highest ranked timber. Once I got the upgraded axe, and finished upgrading the bows I wanted, I donate all of that.
