i would think crit rate on boots would effect your kicking?
Damage cores (ATK, CHC, AKSPD, ect) on your boots and gloves effect ONLY them, gloves are the weapon used to calculate punching performance, where boots are for kicking performance.

The reason they don't show any changes is due to that, it's horribly explained by the game, basically any damage increases from your chest, helm, rings, earrings, or necklace effect everything, where weapons, boots, and gloves only effect themselves (outside of defensive upgrades, there might also be some upgrades that bypass that and effect all, not sure if anyone has tested every ugprade yet)

Due to this, I'd recommend using only defensive boosts on your gloves/boots, unless you use a lot of kicks/punches then alter accordingly.

oh thats interesting.
and there is no way to confirm as the status tab is laughable.
Attack speed on gloves and boots also effect weapons. Doesn't look like Crit works the same way, sadly as there are boots with crit rate.
there is a menu to view your total character stats and it does in fact show you that putting crit/damage on your boots or gloves does not increase the crit or damage on your sword, but it is not easy to find this menu and it only really shows it when you have your weapon unsheathed

i personally dont use attack speed even though it does work on boots and gloves. because attack speed is a very minor increase, putting on my gear with +7 attack speed barely makes a difference in my attack animation speed, its like a 10% increase maybe, and i definitely appreciate the defensive boosts i can get instead

i just get gloves/boots that have the best defensive stats in them and put in gears with +3 defense or whatever
Stats on gloves and boots only affect attack with fist or kick, they told it a week ago on a podcast but i don't remember where.
So from what I've seen, Attack Speed work like this:
Attack Speed, level 1 gives around a 14.2% increase, level 5 is a 24.2%, level 10 is 27.6%, and level 15 is 31.1% (A video by RageGamingVideos did testing with the basic attack chain, do note some animations may not be sped up at all, or see a smaller increases then the basic chain)

Movement Speed while I don't know any actual values works in a similar way, where the first 5 levels are the most impactful.

TL;DR a single attack speed gem is def worth it, especially a level III on your primary or secondary weapon, just don't over invest due to the diminishing returns.

For fists and boots I'd stick to defensive boosts, maybe get an offensive pair of boots and gloves for minigames like wrestling/pit fights to make those go quicker, idk how impactful they are there.

i will try 1 or 2 attack speed gems and see how it goes. i have an upgraded gem that gives me +3 attack speed so i probably will get good value from just using that by itself?

I would personally, since +5 is where the deminishing returns kick in, I'd say going over that deliberately is a bit of a waste of time, also since Critical Hit is so powerful, if your weapon has inbuild level 1 or 2 attack speed, could be worth forgoing the attack speed gem entirely unless you want to go the path of using greater cores to max out your critical hit (Greater Crit I think has +10 Critical Hit, but only has 100 durability before it breaks) so it is a tad situational.
I would say it is bugged .. or very poorly explained.

E.g. attack speed in boots gives it to all weapons and unarmed.
Attack speed in gloves gives it to all weapons an unarmed.

But critical no? That is fishy
