Fishing is impossible on keyboard and mouse

I've watched videos but they all use the controller. I know how it's supposed to be done but it never works. I know only old people play on KB&M but has anyone figured out how to fish that way?

I hate fishing mini games..i do it once for the "Quest" and than never again.

it's easier to catch them by hand, the fishing mini-game is completely optional. But once you understand it, on controller it's the best that a game not focused on fishing Has.

I caught my first fish in <1 min using mouse and keyboard.... it's virtually identical to how you fish in RDR2.

Cast line, wait for fish to bite, hook fish, move rod opposite of where the fish is trying to escape, reel in when the fish is tired... rinse and repeat until you hold the fish in your hand. Never reel in when the fish is struggling. You can tell which direction the fish is swimming by observing the waves/splashes on the water. It's literally copy/pasted from RDR2.

I never play with a controller on PC, if I want to use a controller I play on my console. Keyboard and mouse is usually much superior, even if this game tells you that a controller is recommended. That's bs.

Played RDR2 both on console and PC and my PC experience with keyboard/mouse was so much better.
And while controls are a bit weird here, I have zero issues with keyboard/mouse.

I figured it out. Perhaps I missed the instructions but you have to right click to hook the fish. I don't remember the game telling me that. You also don't have hold down the LMB after the fish is hook but again that wasn't intuative at all.
