Diplomatic rank

i can't figure out how to gain diplomatic rank so i can build oriental structures. Some sources say something about buying scrolls from Northburg and selling them to the Vizier. But I don''t see any scrolls on the menu; and exactly what do they mean. Do I keep buying and selling these scrolls until my rank goes up or is there a particular scroll that opens all?

This is a real bottleneck in what is otherwise a great game. By the comments I've seen on various sites, there is a lot of frustration around this issue.

Sure hope there are still a few players of this game around.

You buy the scrolls from Northburg and deliver them to Al-Zahir like you do with quests items. You don't sell them.

OK, thanks. Turns out I went back (playing in 'Venice' this time) and found the scroll the first time I went to Northburg. Maybe I just wasn't observant enough before.

At least it's on record now in this forum and anyone else serching for 'diplomatic rank' will find an answer.

I'm dating myself here, but I remember the days when games came with 50+ page manuals that answered every question managable. Now developers relie on their own fanbase to provide all customer support for free. Gone are the days of RTFM. :)

There are so many details of gameplay here, the learning curve was quite steep since I had no idea what I was doing for the first 2 hours.
