I have to say, I'm glad to see a demo, I've had this on my wishlist since it was announced. I do have a couple of suggestions if possible (They may not be, I'm surely no expert). When we open the screen to order more books, it would be nice to see, with each book page, a number indicating how many of that specific book we have out on the shelves. It would be nice if we could hover over a book on a shelf and get a popup of the title name instead of having to go into the bookshelf specifically to see it. ...

Can expansions be added in the future?

I did a little quick math and it seems like there's probably 20 books per genre, that's 5 bookcases per genre if you're only selling one of each book at a time. In order to fit 25 bookcases in the store they have to be crazy cramped together. That's not even counting anything you write yourself and presumably publish and sell, I've only been playng for a few hours and haven't finished a book yet so unsure on how that all works so far. Book Stuck on Floor Glitch

Please help! I was having so much fun playing the game but then ran into a glitch. A book was dropped onto the floor in the bookstore and now I can't pick it up. I have tried everything from trying to pick it up from different angles, going in and out of the store, starting a new day, and even restarting my game. Nothing works. It's not a huge game breaking glitch but it is just annoying to have to look at a book that I can't pick up and it interferes with furniture placement....

Hotfix patch (v1.1.2)

Hey Gamers

This is no April Fools joke, just a hotfix patch focusing on a couple of small things:

Fixed conflicting behaviour between Voomba and player (if one of them cleans first, the other got stuck)
Hide the book tracker when the day ends
Fix NPC navigation under peculiar circumstances (everyone used to walk into the void for seemingly no reason)
Fixed furniture placing when it's right next to another item but off-screen/on walls (it used to allow this, but shouldn't have)
Adjustments to NPC navigation to avoid getting stuck on corners

On a second note, we have reached a whooping 100 reviews on Steam.

I can't play the game because it keeps showing black screen...

hi, i've downloaded the demo since it was released, but i also cannot open the game normally... it keeps showing black screen, the bgm was playing though and i can see my cursor turned. but it just.. stuck there and i cannot do anything. do you have any clue about how do i deal with this issue? :( the game is interesting to me, so i don't want to give up......

Update 1.1 - Mega Patch (Shop expansion & New Characters)

Book Bound 1.1 Mega Patch is out now

It's been an amazing couple of weeks since launch. Thank you so much for playing Book Bound until now. I have been reading all your feedback and took on as much as possible to shape Book Bound into a great game. So here we are.

This update contains lots of changes that have been requested and I think they are pretty cool.

New cast of characters that you can chat with. Each with its own unique backstory and dialogue.
Benches are now reserved for the new cast. You will find characters of the new cast on benches.
Added a new Upgrades Menu which allows you to unlock a bunch of things (mostly things further on this list)
Added shop expansions (left and right; total size of the shop can be 3x the original now)
Added custom wall segments to create your own room (unlocks with the first shop expansion)
Added Multi-save support allows you to start new bookshops without losing the old ones
Added Self-checkout item (unlocked via upgrades menu); Customers will automatically pay and leave. You can still checkout customers by standing behind the cash register
Added Voomba station (unlocked via upgrades menu); Spawns a little robot that cleans the shop for you (Voomba station contains more upgrades)
Added Direction sign (unlocked via upgrades menu); When customers look for books and they stand near a sign, they will find the book automatically (no need to help)
Added Storage (unlocked via upgrades menu); Lets you store lots of books (12 in total)
Added a new Build menu filter for "functional" items that have abilities beyond decoration
Added character name creation when starting a new shop
Balanced the amount of rubbish generated
Improved NPC behaviours (more adjustments to make sure they don't get stuck)
Removed NPC conversation when the shop is closed (they didn’t add anything to the game)
Removed zombie NPC’s (for now)
Dialogue progression with Stefan has been reset so see the new version

The game has updated considerably while I've been playing it so I haven't experienced the full game in its current iteration, but at its heart this is still a low-stress enjoyable experience for anyone who enjoys the basic gameplay loop of purchasing and selling books, gradually increasing your stock and designing your shop, and unlocking new features. One update also added a handful of interactive NPCs with unique storylines corresponding to the different book genres which does add an element of life and connectivity that was lacking in the original release. Overall, it is not a complex game, but the charm is in being able to relax and enjoy the premise of being the owner of a small local bookstore.
