Insaniquarium! Deluxe

Insaniquarium! Deluxe

Can only see part of the main menu
Hi there. I submitted this to PopCap AND Steam support, and none of the suggestions have helped so far (pending additional response from Steam; PopCap referred me to Steam as they had no idea).

When the game loads (which it appears to do fine), it only displays what I estimate to be the top left quarter of the screen; it's essentially zoomed into that portion of the game screen, and I cannot click or edit any settings to try to fix it. I have followed all of PopCap's recommendations (which includes running in compatibility mode, running at 640x480 via compatibility settings, etc), and tried fiddling around with some things through internet suggestions with no success.

Anyone have any ideas? I can provide any relevant information about my hard/software that you require.

I have also fiddled with a number of my display settings and had no success; the issue persists as "normal".
are you able to click areas that you can see? If so, try to open options and uncheck "hardware accerelation".

I know it's more than a year since this topic was talked about, but was there ever a solution that worked for you? I recently bought the game and have been having the exact same problem as you. I can't find a solution anywhere!

Apologies for not replying previously, I missed it entirely. I ended up managing to get a refund for the game as I never did get it to work after contacting both PopCap and Valve (out of the kindness of their dear hearts)... I tried everything I could think of. Hardware acceleration, running in a variety of compatibility modes and under administrator... nothing. Maybe this is just one of those games that's too old.

I know this is a really old thread, but perhaps I can help new buyers who have this issue.
When your desktop is set to a higher or lower DPI some older games can cause issues with screensize and only show the top left of the screen.
I have this issue with a lot of older games (like The Sims 1) but every time when I can see only the top left part of the screen the following steps fixed it every time (including Insaniquarium)

The fix:
- Right click on the game and go to properties
- Go to the tab "Local files" and select "Browse local files"
- Find the executable (.exe), for Insaniquarium there are two: Insaniquarium.exe and InsaniquariumDeluxe.exe, to be sure execute the following steps on both files.
- Right click on the executable and go to properties
- On the tab "Compatibility" check the option "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings"
- You're done! Have fun with your game :)

Not sure if this option is available on all Windows versions, but I'm guessing it should be there on Windows 7 and higher.

Update to this to match new file properties formatting:
- Once again, do this for both Insaniquarium.exe and InsaniquariumDeluxe.exe
- Right click > Properties
- Compatibility tab
- Change high DPI settings
- Check the box that says High DPI scaling override: Override high DPI scaling behavior. Scaling performed by:
- Make sure the drop down box below it says "Application"
- Make sure you hit OK on all properties windows to apply the changes
