Graphics problems solved
There are more and more reports about problems with the graphics of ATD on newer systems. I've been digging through some forums and found a solution.

First of all big thanks to Zyddie (Game dev) and Mattanst (reupload of the file).

Link to the Guide: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2337155054

The Guide:

Step 1:
Download the file at the following reddit page and move all files inside to the installation folder of Airline Tycoon (Airline Tycoon Icon -> Manage -> Browse Local Data)

LINK:
https://www.reddit.com/r/AirlineTycoonDeluxe/comments/7wknmc/airline_tycoon_fix_speech_bubble_lag_issue/

Step 2:
Set the compatibility of the AT.exe (in the same folder) to Windows XP/Service Pack 3.

Edit (29.01.2021):
If it still does not work change the value ColorFix in the aqrit.cfg file (open the file with the Editor) from 1 to 0 and try again. (Thanks to morph113).

Step 3:
Have fun :D

Here the original contribution of the game dev:

Zyddie
We are working on it.

Seems a fansite did find a fix that is unoffical, but will list it here just in case it will help some of you.

Download the file "adtfix.rar" from http://www.airline-tycoon.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=3512&start=10 in the installation folder and it should fix the issues.

Please let us know if that is helps you out.

Edit (16.03.2021):

Here a short checklist for troubleshooting:

1. aqrit.cfg file (downloaded and placed in the AT folder)
2. compatibility of the AT.ext on Windows XP/Service Pack 3
3. Worked? Yes = Have fun! No=next step
4. open the aqrit.cfg file with the Editor and change ColorFix from 1 to 0
5. Worked? Yes = Have fun! No=next step
6. Run AT.exe in Admin mode
7. Right klick the AT-Logo in steam and go to Manage -> Browse Local Data -> Check files for errors (or something similar)

Edit (21.12.2021):
I would like to draw your attention to WizzardMaker | Jonas. He almost single-handedly provides a completely fixed version of Airline Tycoon. Follow his guide on Steam/Discord/Github... I use it too!

Hello - FYI the last link to A-T.com site links to a 404 error now. Perhaps a 2021 certificate/renewal issue, but will check back in a few days - Cheers
(Otherwise, very helpful Post - Thank You :ontoagoodthing:)
Reddit link & d/l are fine.

Doesn't work for me. In the lobby there are severe graphic issues and it seems about half or more of the graphics and objects in the airport are missing, it's unplayable. Downloading and extracting the files into the installation folder makes the game crash when I try to start it, so it makes it even worse.

I tried all compatibility settings, running as administrator, using dedicated GPU as well as integrated graphics. I got Windows 10 but the game just won't run properly. Without the patch mentioned here it starts but there are missing graphics and it's unplayable. With the patch the game doesn't even run.

Okay I just figured it out, if someone has the same issue. In the aqrit.cfg I changed the value for ColorFix from 1 to 0 and now it starts up properly from Steam.

Very good :D. Nice to see that there are more ways to solve the problem. I will add this to the guide.

My game doesn't even load up at all :(

Hmm have you done all the steps in the description?

Here a short checklist:

1. aqrit.cfg file (downloaded and placed in the AT folder)
2. compatibility of the AT.ext on Windows XP/Service Pack 3
3. Worked? Yes = Have fun! No=next step
4. open the aqrit.cfg file with the Editor and change ColorFix from 1 to 0
5. Worked? Yes = Have fun! No=next step
6. Right klick the AT-Logo in steam and go to Manage -> Browse Local Data -> Check files for errors (or something similar)

It could be that the file you have inserted into the folder is deleted by the error correction of Steam. The important thing is that the game starts. If it start but the graphic error still occurs try the steps 1-3 again.

If none of this helps, uninstall the game and reinstall it. This may also help

Hey, I tried all steps and also uninstalled and reinstall. The game is dead now on my PC. Shame really, I loved this game :/

I still have one :D ... navigate to the AT folder and try to start the game dirrekt from the .exe bun as admin (right click -> Run as admin), of course with the above compatibility settings.
If this should not work ... which would be a pity ... could you then describe how the game behaves when you start it?

Yeah sadly still doesn't work. I run it as mentioned above the icon appears on the taskbar but then after 5-10 seconds it disappears and doesn't run.

The fix works for me (but I had to do all the steps, verify local files and run as administrator), but the fps are very low now. The game is lagging basically. Are they really working on a patch? This occurs since December and it's March now...

Thank you so much! This fix appears to have worked for me. I couldn't figure out what "change the compatibility" meant in step 2, but the colorfix suggestion seems to have solved the issue. Much appreciated!

Hi, "change the compatibility" meant right klick on AT.exe -> Properties -> Compatibility Tab-> Compatibility mode (check) -> Windows XP/Service Pack 3 -> Apply (bottom right corner)

Doing "open the aqrit.cfg file with the Editor and change ColorFix from 1 to 0" work for me. Thank you.

The original aqrit.cfg work for me with the GOG version, if some had problems must try the fix.
