[Tutorial] Gamepad not recognized

Hi Folks!

If you are experiencing issues related with your GAMEPAD don’t being recognized by the game please, follow these instructions:

1º Go to Steam -> Settings -> Controller

2º Click over “General Controller Settings”. You will need to enable the support for PS4, Xbox and Generic Gamepad.
If Windows detects your device then it will be shown as “Detected Controllers”.

3º Select the “Generic Controller” you want to setup, and click over the “Configure” button.
Here, you can change the Controller name, enable the Rumble and after pressing submit it will register the configuration to your Steam account.

4º Now if you press “Define Layout” button you will be able to edit all the gamepad buttons. This configuration depends on how old the gamepad is and other factory properties. You can auto set them all or customize manually.
When you finish configuring all the buttons press “Save” at the bottom of the screen and restart Steam. Now your device should be recognized by Steam :)

I'm using a Steam controller on MacOS, with the GOG version of the game but I can't get it to work. It works perfectly fine on other games. I've enabled the needed settings and have tried multiple controller templates. Steam overlay works while in the game, the game only shows keyboard and mouse prompts so it doesn't even recognise that a controller is connected.

Thanks so much for this sticky. I never knew about configuring my controller this way. I always just tried using x360ce with it working for most games I do use a controller for except for just 3 games so far. This game, Axiom Verge and Songbringer.

Are you guys still updating this game? I've found a couple of typos said by Big Joe:
"En guarde!" to Vigo when it should be "garde"
"I can't wait to lye down" after he's shot

Steam perfectly recognizes my controller, but this is the only game I've run on Pop OS (derived from Ubuntu) that doesn't recognize my XBOX 360 controller...

No matter what I do, this game refuses to acknowledge *any* control inputs when I try to play it on the Steam Deck. It's listed as being playable, but I'm stuck on the menu.
Very confusing and frustrating. What am I doing wrong?
