there really should be
Say I want to draw a "Olympic javelin thrower", maybe I'd first draw the spear, but quickly decide that I want to draw the person throwing the spear. Trouble is, now the spear goes DIRECTLY through the persons head and it becomes a murder scene instead of the tame drawing because I can't erase the lines behind the head.
My point is that in order to produce a drawing, I HAVE to plan every aspect of the drawing IN ADVANCE which requires a lot higher degree of skill then would otherwise be available to me.
Taking too long is moot since there's a timer.
In our larger games, we've found the workarounds of not having erase are particularly punishing since players have to black-out entire sections to redact a mistake and start over with an extremely limited space. It's for this reason that we tend NOT to favor Drawful and instead go for physical versions like Telestrations, where a quick flick of the finger will erase a line.
Ah well. Enough rambling for me, if you've made it this far, WOW!! Thank you =)
