I thought the same thing. I miss The Movies. Still one of my favorite games to play. Really with Lionhead would make a second one.
the movies a difficult game?
There is no difficulty to it...each half a star movies will get you tons of money!
It's not an easy game by any means. Having to keep your actors and directors in line, set upkeep, lot maintenance, budgeting/adjusting salaries, keeping your movies fresh by not using the same sets constantly, going for awards (lot prestige was always the easiest), etc...
I just played it yesterday! :P so im my opinion, even the micromanagement in "The movies" gets easy if you know what your doing from the first few years and just unlocking set after set after set so quickly gets boring....great game none the less and needs a good sequel!
Wasn't The Movies reasonably successful? Someone will eventually hop back on the concept.
I haven't played this, I just asked the question. And I cannot nor will not say if this game is good, due to the fact that I haven't played it.
Unfortunately, this game 'looks' like The Movies and Cinema Tycoon.
Football games were big. ISS and FIFA (before the corruption).
A niche came along in the Football Manager series and cleaned up. Year after year.
They have 'regen' players (which could be used for the actors/crew) with current and future abilities (upcoming stars)
The pitfalls of those games were simple. 'Filler' graphics get in the way. Unnecessary graphics.
The beauty of Football Manager was the 'one screen' effect. Everything ran from a split sectioned main page that could access wherever you wanted to be in one click.
At the moment, mundane clicking and scrolling spoils it. No filters for order of actors abilities etc is just one example.
A simple sidebar listing your movies and current production/release
In short, the mistake was to add graphics. It was instantly going to be compared (and graded). In this kind of game it's just not needed.
On Boxofficemojo.com, do people want to see graphics? Or do they want the numbers?
They are analysts.
Lucasfilm got away from the point and click adventures of Myst and produced the best adventure games on the planet.
Although similar, they couldn't be compared to anything else.
Only the look is similar to The Movies
The Movies had no BO numbers, just star rating
This is, and should aim to be, a numbers only game
The comparisons are hurting it's growth
Very close to being a good game, lose the graphics and get Beta testers in to help
Good news for you , check out this game
