NAT target not connected
So i just got the game for a friend, and he managed to join my game once, but for all attempts after that, he got the above error. My ports are fowarded, and we didn't start the game at all when he did join. Any ideas?

EDIT: Joined him once, then like the above, NAT Target not Connected.

Hi DragonCentaurus, there's some issue with the NAT Facilitator where it sometimes does that and you have to close to the game before trying to connect again.

I am currently working on fixing that, thanks for reporting the bug.

Cheers
Rob

(I'm going to move this to bugs so that I can keep an eye on it)

Hey Rob, I'm having this same issue as well, with some twists. When my friend tries to join my game he gets the NAT Target not Connected issue, but when I try to join him it just says "Connection Failed".

The NAT facilitator has been a thorn in my side from day one, it's suppose to help bypass port forwarding and firewalls. It was written by the good people at Unity about 4 years ago and hasn't really been updated since.

The NAT Target issue means you may need to restart the game and the Connection Failed might be down to closed ports (I know it is the year 2015 :P )

Its the top of my lists of things to fix at the moment :)

Dosn't steam have a sever or some kind of intagration that you can use instead?

@Tontow: There is steam integration as an option to all devs. But it is also my understanding that, in addition to re-writing or making original netcode, to get Steam integration would also cost a fair amount of scratch.

To put this into perspective, the studio that does Project Zomboid has recently begun the conversion of their MP code to play nice with Steam. This project was so onerous they resorted to hiring a whole other indie studio to assist them in doing it. Between buying the data for the MP servers to facilitate the game, they had to pay this other studio who apparently make a tidy living doing this for other indie projects.

The PZ team had to finance this project with sales from their game--and it has sold hundreds upon thousands of copies. I would guess that for now Steam integration for Executive Assault is more of a long-term thing...assuming it is even something Hesketh Studios wants to do.
