Rise and Fall: Civilizations at War
Anyone ever play this game?

Ancient Rome/Egypt/Greece war game where you RTS'd but could play as a hero in FPS mode.

Awesome game. Sorry, just a bit of mostly unrelated nostalgia.

Anyway, yes to this game?

No lol, it's called Rise and Fall: Civilizations at War

Don't think it was a huge success but it was awesome. I still have the disc/box

Nice! i will definately have to check that game out. you should check out C&C Renegade if u like this game.

its not C&C Renegade (renegade is old af XD) but a group of people got together and made a remastered renegade called Renegade X and its just as similar as the original game but better graphics and more. heres the link if u wanna check it out yourself oh and its also FREE!: http://www.renegade-x.com/

I played some of the new C&C. I think the last one I played was Tiberium Wars before I lost interest.

same, Tiberium wars and before were the greatest. renegade is an FPS strategy

Another recommendation is Knights of Honor. Game is on steam. It is so freaking fun if you enjoy medieval empire building in real time with battles you can fight or auto-resolve (auto resolve even takes time while the world still continues on). Neat game. 10/10!

that sweet i definately gotta check those out myself!

My best game I had about 100 provinces captured as Novgorod but then lost the game since I had to switch computers :( I was so close to sacking Rome.

nice, is it a grand strategy, it kinda sounds like that. im not one for grand strategies i like RTS and FPS RTS (idk if thats what its called).

Yeah there is a vast world map of all of Europe, Russia, Northern Africa and some of the Mideast where you lead your tiny kingdom or vast empire to greater glory.

It is 90% RTS though. The other 10% is if you decide to fight battles personally as that pauses the world map. If it goes on a 50% sale or something I'd always recommend it.

No FPS in the game however.

Back "on topic" I still have my disc copy of Rise and Fall as well. Fun fact: It is now a free game. Yeah. The US Air Force of all things made a deal with Midway (the publisher) and now there's an ad supported version of the game you can download for free. Search for it on GamersHell--remember that site too? Back when computer games had patches you had to download special installers instead of the files being pushed right to your computer through Steam. Often publishers would host files on third-party sites. In this case, that site is GamersHell.

I'd post the direct link, but I don't want the dev of this game--you know the one we should be discussing, lol to get mad at me. A google search however, will find you the game.

Wow that's interesting.

Yeah I don't mean to promote another game on this game's community hub. I was just wondering if any of that game's fans like this game.

Cheers yo.

Yeah, there are a few games not entirely unlike this out there - very very few, but they do exist.

One in recent memory was Salvation Prophecy, though that also has a lot of space combat.

Another recent title was one in which there were 3 factions: Your typical Rebels/Revolutionaries with low-ish tech, your typical megalomaniacal federation/corporate types with Robots and the like, and some Bio-Tech aliens. What made this game particularly unique is that it gave you the ability to do Terrain modification at will - I just wish I could remember the name of it. It didn't get a lot of press or notice, and no-one I've ever talked to had heard of it. I have the disc buried somewhere, but I'd have to find it.

Yeah if you have free time, post the name. Sounds fun.

I've heard of Salvation Prophecy....checking it out to see if it's what I think it is....

As long as we're talking about alikes, what about Urban Assault? Very advanced game for its time. No base building, but you claim nodes which give you money, and from your HQ you could magically make units with that money. Then while you're waiting for your money to go back up, you could hop in a tank or heli you made and go FPS. You could set postures for your troops, it had a resizable minimap where you did all the RTSing, and destructable buildings.

And hey, it's got 'Assault' in the name.
