Can't Leave Children Alone
Why can't child sims be left home by themselves? Have the developers never heard of latchkey kids?

Only teen and up can be left alone, must have a teen or up at home to let child sims to have fun.
You can always hire a nanny to watch child sims.

Children need to learn how to be independent.

Children are more independent on The SIms 3 and The SIms 4 than The Sims 2 apparently, but in real life it does not work that way. Children under the age of 11 or 12 in real life depending on how smart they are might need a baby sitter instead of being home alone.
