The Sims™ 2 Legacy Collection

The Sims™ 2 Legacy Collection

i need to know something..
i am not sure how to properly word this, but i will try my best.
so, when i played this game as a kid, i am absolutely positive that you could move around as your sim and it wasn't just a point and click game. i am confident that i had the pets version, though.. so this feature may have been exclusive to just that game. my question is before buying this, is this a point and click sims game or will i be able to walk around as my sim again? You played the game on playstation 2 which was essentially a different game, the pets version you speak of is also a standalone version rather than an expansion like it is on PC. On PC the game controls like a typical top down real time game on mouse keyboard yes, as opposed to the direct control on the different console ports.

just buy a used copy of sims 2 for ps2 + a cheap disc drive and rip the game and play it on an emulator such as pcsx2, works wonders for me and thats how i play urbz, bustin out, castaway and the og sims 2. :)
you're totally right, but oh my goodness sims castaway, such a throwback i miss that game so much
I recommend the First Sims on the Original Xbox, The Sims 2 on Original Xbox, and The Sims Bustin' Out on Original Xbox. Because of sharper textures, higher detail polygons, faster loading times, and better performance overall with some minor hiccups. I own these Sims console games on my Original Xbox.

Yeah I miss that too. I grew up playing TS1 and TS2 on PC, but when I played the console version after having experienced PC, even though I was quite disappointed that so many features had been removed, my mind was blown by the direct control which made it super immersive, fun and it added a lot of value to an otherwise heavily compromised experience compared to the PC version. Ever since then I wanted them to add that feature to all future Sims games on PC as an option...

It still hasn't happened yet.

That being said, this is a much deeper game than the console version. It is overall a much better life simulation than the console version was capable of achieving so I definitely recommend it as it's still considered by many to be the best Sims game ever made, but maybe wait for a couple of patches first because there are a lot of issues being reported (even though my personal experience has been pretty positive so far). If you enjoyed it there, you owe it to yourself to eventually try the uncompromised and far more fleshed out version of it.

Don't forget The Urbz! That was a super cool (but also quite flawed) game.

Aye, I have The Urbz: Sims in the City on Xbox as well. But, the game even on the original Xbox has some frame-rate issues due to the game pushing the Xbox’s hardware almost to its limit!! I wish EA remaster and port Urbz to PC along with the Sims console versions.

Yeah, the game had some cool things going for it but framerate definitely wasn't one of them. I'd love to see it come to PC one day too, as well as other console exclusive Sims versions, but after how long it took them to make legacy Sims PC versions available again and their lack of support for existing games that they still sell like The Sims 3, I've given up hope of being able to play them on PC with enhancements, at least via native and official means.
