The most important folders to backup are Neighborhoods (your saved games), Downloads, and SavedSims.
Keep in mind that it will not back up custom content installed in the core game directories (if you have it installed)
hello! i can't find these, i can only find them in the steam folder, nothing in documents. i find them in EP9, EP8, EP7 etc. is it because i downloaded it on a different hard drive? i'm lost and would really like some help!
that's strange cause they should be there, i just double checked now and in the documents folder under EA Games i see the sims 2 (probably my ultimate collection) then there's also the sims 2 legacy and the folder was last modified when i played the game so i know they are definitely in there. i dont have the game installed on my c drive either thats an ssd i have it installed on my second hard drive which is F and they are still in the documents folder.
the path should be C:\Users\WOLFE1924\Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2 Legacy\Neighborhoods
if you substitute my name for whatever your account name on your pc is lets say its milo for example and you copy and paste C:\Users\milo\Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2 Legacy\Neighborhoods into file explorer on the top it should bring you to the exact spot.
Have you played any neighbourhood or made a custom one? I don't know if you get neighbourhood files in your Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2 Legacy folder without loading one.
Another thing is Windows 11 comes with OneDrive, and some default folders (including Documents) end up in the OneDrive. I've read that it's causing problems for some people when they try to save the game. I hated the OneDrive set-up, so I disabled it as soon as I could. But check there if you still can't find your neighbourhoods.
Best of luck!!
Also, there is no Steam Cloud connectivity. You will need to save a back-up of your neighbourhood and transfer it to the other MacBook file folder. I have no clue where the files are saved on Mac, though! Anyhow, make sure to keep back-ups of saves from both in case something goes wrong while playing on one of the devices.
