I just got to the 17:45 - "Download Memory fixes to prevent that bug from happening"... while the video is a good watch so far, she is basically saying that YOU as the consumer NEED to FIX the game YOURSELF.... so.... if I need to fix it myself.... Why would I pay EA for this game in the first place? People pay companies for the game to be able to PLAY said game, this fixes SHOULD be done by EA (or whatever company depending on the game). People pay for the sake of simplicity, you as the consumer should NOT need to tinker with the files in any shape or form. Which brings me to the point of EA should have done a better job with this re-release.
You are not wrong, I have read that putting "Shadows Quality" on High can crash your game endlessly.
Yeah, I agree with you. It’s a shame in which quality it got released. I don’t have many issues, but honestly, I don’t care much about it. I play it because of nostalgy but not because I want to deep dive in this game. This game is too old for my taste. I only wish they release more older titles on Steam and this was the core reason why I purchased this. The price is nothing which hurts me, of course I would wish they would deliver a better quality but it’s EA. I would be rather surprised if they didn’t release a broken game.
Yeah sadly you are right.
Actually this video is making me see what potentially is the problem with the sims 2 right now. Originally the game only had 1,000 population limit (which according to the video doesn't mean SIMS only, it means a bunch of stuff)... and then at some point the limit got amplified to +32,000 population limit.... and seeing the problems that people are having from saves not working and so on.... I firmly believe that somehow in this re-release there is only a population limit of 1,000.
Are you certain? Have you played long enough to notice you got stuck on a loading screen when trying to leave home to visit somewhere else? This terrible bug causes you to lose sims and pets, lose progress in the game, and if I had to take a guess the one of the worst bugs in the entire game besides maybe the losing a child permanently when sending to school. This is a really bad bug, because it forces your sim to stay at home and not go anywhere besides going to work assuming the sim has a job. I was tempting for me to buy The SIms 2 on the first day of release, but part of me is relieved that I did not. Any game breaking bugs especially need to be reported directly to EA in hopes they fix them quickly in an emergency patch.
Played primary on my PC and the experience has been normal and great! I played like 3 hours as well offline on my Steam Deck with an entire different save and no issues either and have not needed to tinker something.
Wrong. There may be some people giving negative reviews for The SIms 2 that has nothing to do with the ultimate collection and it being given away for free at one point. Not being able to launch the game, body shop is missing, and the game not working properly in various different ways even if able to successfully launch the game are other reasons for giving The SIms 2 a negative review on Steam.
