Deleted Sim after loading home

Hi, I was playing as Bianca Monty in Veronaville, she just got a child, after some time a reloaded a save file to continue playing the household and the child is gone. She has a memory of having the child, all furniture is still there so it was the time when the child was already born, the child is still on the family portrait when you check the town but it is missing and in the memory it doesnt show its name, it's gone from the family tree as well. Anyone knows how to fix this? Can I reload previous save file? If so, how? I do not know where the save files are stored. Thanks a lot if anyone knows how to help. I played a lot of sims 2 in the past but this never happened to me :/ dunno whats wrong with this version on steam

I can't answer your question, but it is beyond infuriating that the game even has bugs like this for people that haven't used mods/cc. You should be able to effectively play the game at base value and you can't. I hope they fix this.

can you make sure the game can properly write/reads the save directory? the sims 2 constantly writes/read data in the save directory based on whats happening in you save game.

if you don't setup you pc properly to give the softwares proper rights to write there it will have issues and is not fault of the game,

make sure you don't use any anti ramsomware tool that could block read/write and if you do allow the sims 2 to write there,

avoid programs that constantly sync to internet like mega/drive/onedrive as the sims 2 will be constantly like if a new baby is born it will create the charcter files and so on, if the onedrive is trying to sync the game may fail to properly write/edit that file as one drive will be using the file to upload, and its not fault of sims 2,

you are responsible for everything that runs in you computer, MAKE SURE THE GAME have full and proper rights to its save directory.

It’s already confirmed that this issue is a bug with the re-release version. Because people which have that problem get the $Subject error memory. Which happens to in the normal version through neighborhood corruption. EA messed it up.

Just adding: I removed OneDrive and I don’t use any software which is allowed to mess with my files. Still I encountered this lovely bug with one of my households.

Same. I started with the broke family as I always do, her child disapeared and then I had her marry a new sim with a kid and then that kid disappeared. Im just gonna go back to my oldgames version of the game that Ive been playing, may glitch a tiny bit and the graphics arent as good but it has zero bugs.

the game has bugs that don't exist in the original, i have the original copy on origin the old ultimate collection, it works fine , but alot of people had this issue of people dissapearing had one drive or stuff messing with the games files, no need to remove one drive, but just pausing or excluding the save game folder from one drive to sync would help already.

the alien animations/cutscenes are broken and may crash the game in this version from what i see on youtube.

i said that just as a general help, because i know people had issues like this on the older version as well.

Same thing happened to me...after moving in new house with my family of 4 sims i got stuck in loading screen (but the game was saved before that) so when i relogin family was there but mom dissapeared. No memory of her, no picture in the family tree nothing. This is scary...

Where are the Sims 2 saves? Can't you create own save file, and save files for separate families/players and save them on your own computer?

Have EA really ruined this game for good, that for example if my spouse plays this game, then I have to play with the exactly same save file? Or that if the same file gets corrupted, then the whole save file is gone for good?

Yeah, the original/UC works fine, if you know somebody which has this re-release you can easily reproduce the issue. Just create 5 households with the maximal household size (2 adults, 3 toddlers/children and some pets). Place them in the world and to 80% you will trigger this issue at least with ONE household in the re-release version. Memories will still be there but one or two child/pets will be missing and the memory will say §Subject …

Dunno what they broke but is for sure frustrating for people which like to play a family with kids/pets because they will faster encounter this bug as a person which only play a single sim.

I’ve had this happen twice to me now with two different families…ughh I was so annoyed. Hopefully there’s a patch coming for that (and a way to report a bug like this)

Yes and it was really quite traumatic. One of my sims had just come home from a date only to find her younger sister gone, reduced to ashes. It's like Thanos himself had erased her from existence.

I can't guarantee it fixes it, it is still very much a bug. I have found however that if I use the "save" function in game and never, ever save using neighbourhood or quit menu it seems to stay intact so far. I experienced disappearing sims on day 1 of play too though
