The Sims™ 2 Legacy Collection

The Sims™ 2 Legacy Collection

What's the point?
What's the point in this? EA gave away the complete Sims 2 collection years ago, and I'm fairly certain, due to how old the game is, it's also up on those shovelware websites for free. (Same with Sims 1) I'd understand if this was a remake (Sims 2 but with Sims 4 engine and graphics) but as it stands it just looks like a generic cash grab.

Veilguard and some other game of theirs flopped, Sims 5 was cancelled in favour of keeping dead-end Sims 4 afloat. Gotta make money somehow
So people have a place to officially buy the sims 1 and 2. Does it need to be much more than that?

I get the prices are too high for what they are, but there's tons of old games available on steam that are basically as they launched. idk why everyone is complaining about this one.

They should complain about those ones too
People are complaining about this one because it released today. Shocking how the world is more interested in recent events

WHY BUY THIS?

LESS WORK. JUST PRESS INSTALL BUTTON AND THAT'S IT.

What did EA added?

Put down that grilled cheese sandwich and get ready for a trip down memory lane to 2004 with us! We’ve revived The Sims 2 and most of its packs to work easily with Windows 10 and 11! Please note that modern licensing restrictions have required the removal of 1 pack and some of the original songs, but we have included as many as possible.

MORE PIXELS. In the abandonware SIMS 2, you are stuck at 4:3. In 2025 SIMS 2, you are playing in widescreen or ultra-widescreen.

SO MUCH SPACE FOR ACTIVITIES.

We thought we’d also make it easier to see all those classic pixels on your monitor! To scale the game to make better use of the screen space available, try using the Alt + Enter key combination to enter and leave full-screen mode. Enjoy that glorious widescreen The Sims 2 view!

GraphicsRules.sgr now supports modern hardware configurations
Fixed a shadow bug that surrounded Sims with a big black square
Wide screen and higher game resolutions are now supported

ADAPTIVE UI SIMILAR TO THE POPULAR BROWSERS

UI scales better to higher resolutions

Texture memory corruption and “pink soup” are fixed
Dragging The Sims 2 window from one monitor to another works more smoothly

NO MORE LIMIT ON 4GB MEMORY RAM. 32 GB, here we come.

If your computer has a lot of RAM, The Sims 2 is able to use it

Fixed several crashes
Improvements and fixes

i never needed any "fixes" to make them run on windows 10/11 they just worked for me back when i used my cd copies, no idea how people run into these issues, when everyone i know myself included never had that type of issue.

How old is your PC and what specc do you have? Apparently windows 10/11 is only part of the problem, the other part is newer hardware put different stresses on the game that will make it crash. That is apparently fixed now.

? Never said my game had issues, Sims 1 and 2 run perfectly fine. I own them both on Origin. (Got them for free) I was just pointing out that it seems pointless for EA to resell these games, for £15 and £25 each, with nothing really new added when BOTH games are available for free on abandonware sites or most of us would have got them for free years ago on Origin.

Greed. Greed mever changes.

You guys complain about this game never releasing officially on Steam or anywhere else and then proceed to complain about it coming out to be sold one again and expect it to be free to begin with, how inept do you have to be?

While yes the prices is a little steep but they really did WHAT WAS ASKED and you dweebs expect this to be a full-fledged remaster lmao. Gamers don't deserve anything nice, truly.

The game looks great. Has a new graphics rendering engine and has bug fixes for newer windows editions. Stop crying.
Anyone Know how to keep this from crashing? Serious answers only please not intersted in bickering about price or opinions of other ways to play it on other sites, just wanting to see if someone has figured out how to keep from crashing? Thanks :)

Lucky you, Sims 2 is notoriously known for being a broken mess of a game, with a shoddy engine.
