That was a stand-alone game, NOT part of Sims 2 itself
Castaway is a console spinoff, not an expansion.

They probably could have added it. If they cared...

on console im pretty sure everything was a spinoff, since in order to be an expansion it would have to be downloadable to the original game, not purchased separately.

why would they add castaway, a spin off mind you not an expansion, to the sims 2? are you concern trolling at this point?

maybe? i looked it up and it's like the only version considered a spin off, while pets which is in the same category tab is an expansion. i dont get it, its all the same game!!

While they are titled the same game, they are not the same haha. You can see the official list of Sims 2 expansions here: https://sims.fandom.com/wiki/Content_pack#The_Sims_2

There was Sims 2 Pets, an expansion to 2, and Sims Pet Stories, a spin off combo game about a scenario story line centered around pet owners.

realistically, why not just add all the expansions/spin-offs/ stuff packs all into the game? they're all developed by the same people
Sims 2 Castaway was a spinoff as in a seperate game. On PSP, it had severe crashes problems, which depending on your luck made it up to unplayable. The PS2 version might be less of a crime against humanity but still not a PC game they could just updated a little bit like Sims 2 and its expansions.

The Sims Pets Stories[sims.fandom.com], not to be confused with The Sims 2: Pets expansion pack[sims.fandom.com], and The Sims Castaway Stories[sims.fandom.com] for PC are standalone games that featured campaigns with unique content. Being standalone, they don't require Sims 2 nor does it run on that game. They're effectively different games.

The Sims 2: Castaway[sims.fandom.com] refers to another different game that is console-exclusive.

Because its literally a different game programed differently, its not like the console port of the sims 4.

The Stories games are basically just downgraded versions of TS2 (they were designed to run on 2000s-era laptops and had generally worse visuals to compensate), to where you should be able to backport content from Castaway Stories to TS2 without too much hassle.

But the bigger issue is that Maxis is a Ship of Theseus at this point, to where those 'same people' mentioned by the prior poster who actually knew how TS1/TS2 and the Stories games were developed are nearly if not all long gone from Maxis/EA.
