It was not. You only had to enter a code to redeem it. There were no particular conditions. And if you had missed the window, you could go to Support Chat and ask for it and they'd add it to your account.
It was. I even went out and bought Double Deluxe and had to chat to support and provide pictures of my game copy.

Right before Sims 4 released they started giving away the Ultimate Collection for free for a limited time before the game was delisted forever.
After that you had to ask EA support and if you were lucky, they might have added the game to your account.

For what it's worth, I played it for nearly 3hours straight and had no issues. I'm on windows 10.

I suppose this might be worth it for newcomers to the franchise (debatable, unless the community patches and mods will work for these versions) - TS2 is objectively the best game out of all four, with TS3 close behind. For my ancient-fossil-self, how many times do I need to pay for the same game? Not even an improved one - the exact same one I got in a plastic box with a CD in it when I was in elementary school.

EA is having a laugh with this one.

That's just plain wrong. Digital games do age and stop working. Most old games don't run on modern systems anymore or are incredibly unstable or stuck in 4:3 ratio because widescreen monitors didn't exist at the time.

Even now we have ultra wide monitors 21:9 or 32:9 and so many games (even more recent ones) do not support such features.

Actually old games often can and do run on modern systems, they just need a bit of tinkering under the hood to get working, and more tinkering to be stable. Even old original TS2 works, with a bit of effort, but it's such a pita that it's nice to have a version that's easier to get running from the get go.

I heard you can get the items by installing it like any CC

It was not. Did you read the article I shared? If you entered the code during the allocated time frame, then you'd get the full game and all expansions and packs for free.

You had to go and buy a physical version because you missed the time frame. It doesn't negate the fact it was free for anyone entering the code during the allocated time frame.

Yes it was, I was there in 2014 and had to buy a copy of proof. Only later they started giving it away for free with the code I-LOVE-SIMS If I remember the code correctly.
I was really salty back then, because I paid money for it.

Which means it was not. They did give it for free to anyone entering the code. Do you have reading comprehension issues? The code is mentioned in the article I shared so you clearly did not read it.

You're the one who has some issues.

The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection was released before the code was even created. The only way to get it was to have proof ownership of the game.

Only after a month or two they decided to give away the game for free to everyone and then delist the game forever.

Why should they be charging 30 dollars for a decade old re-release that was already given away for free? Absolutely braindead

I don't understand why people STILL think they are still making things because they like the franchise. HELLLLLOOO TIME TO WAKKEEE UPPPP.
Cash grab since 2014, when S4 came out. It now has 90 DLCS, NINETY DLCS.

HHEEELLLOOOOOOOOOO

No idea what y'all are arguing about, but I got the Ultimate collection for free just because I asked support for it lol. This was way after it got delisted too

And this topic is about how they gave it away for free.

Congratulation for paying 30USD for something that is still online all over the place because it's 25 YEARS OLD, under law it's fair use to have it for free.
Yet, you sheep still give them money, no wonder they keep pushing crappy content and do absolutely no effort in making that content good.
Jesus christ guys wake the hell up.

I was agreeing with Steve, because that's what EA said at the time when Ultimate Collection came out. You had to prove that you owned either a base game or any expansion and then they would provide you with the Ultimate Collection
