Shadows - Anyone know how to turn it on?
Anyone know how to turn on the shadows? It's grayed out.

Shadows caused a graphical glitch when running TS2 on modern hardware. It looks like they've put zero effort into fixing this for the re-release, and just prevented people from turning it on.
What the user above posted is simply not true. Shadows can be enabled and disabled once you choose a household to play.

Since this is just a re-release and not a remaster you can just follow one of the many guides to get the option working again on Youtube, I have the older Ultimate collection and shadows need to be enabled through a notepad file where the game is saved I think.

Bro everyone does it was free like 10 years ago but we're talking about the game on steam.
it was released on steam AND on EA app. there's no discussion section on EA app so they're looking for some help here (i guess) :D

why so nervous?

Imagine getting salty over a discussion about shadows in The Sims 2, in a Steam forum. Deary me.

Badger, there IS a graphical glitch with shadows in The Sims 2. The user BO posted a link to a mod that fixes it. It is well known.

the shadow glitch is only present in the original version, it was fixed in this version. EA straight up took the source code of that mod and put it into the rerelease (without permission or credit btw)

anyway, to answer op's question: you have to enter a household to enable shadows. it can't be enabled from town view

Don't put shadow on high quality. If they haven't fixed it, it will create a black box under your sims. Medium quality works fine though.
