The Sims™ Legacy Collection

The Sims™ Legacy Collection

what to do? buy it... again?
I bought the game, refunded it, but still… I want to relive that nostalgic feeling. So now I want to buy the game AGAIN! I also saw that there are patches and fixes—good news!

But now I STILL READ that there are bugs in the game (some comments mention crashes happening over and over again)…

Do those patches actually work? Is Steam/EA going to fix this? And do these crashes only happen with The Sims 1, or also with The Sims 2?

It’s ridiculous! Back then, it never crashed, and now the game crashes constantly?! Back then, I had Windows 98/Windows XP—no problems at all… :)

The game has been running smoothly for me. Outside of the weird zoomed-out view on my 1080p screen.

I had it crash several times on day one, but it hasn't happened again after the patches. Though of course I can't guarantee it will be the same for you.

One of the hotfix fixed the save game crash for me, and the last one crashes after playing game for some period of time (after about 38 hrs of playing, game start crashing, but it's ok now). Friends now show properly (not only 5).
But, there is still the 1080p res small GUI. But for lots of people game crashing anyway. They patch it quite frequently, so maybe you can wait a little and buy it again later.

I tested this game on my Acer predator 1080p monitor, and my 1440p monitor. The 1440p monitor is the one with UI issues. 1080p looks perfect! Only the higher-res monitors need UI Patching.

On 1920x1080 I have very small GUI and the first screen (with house selection) and loading screens are not in fullscreen at all. When I play it in 800x600 it's ok, but in 1920x1080 it's unplayable for me.

It only has a smaller hud. It's a smaller resolution. But the zoom is perfect on 1080p

Home screens (incl. family creation, navigating neighborhoods etc) are still not fullscreen like stated above. Another bug that's still prominent is the game crashing every time the burglar arrives and cops pull up to the scene. Besides that, the game has been smooth sailing for me, so much so I've started adding in cc's.

There are still game breaking issues i wonder if there even are people who had no problems?

Thank you all for your comments! :)

I think I agree; I will buy a Windows XP computer too. :) (This makes me feel really old at this point.)

And to be honest, I never liked The Sims 4. I really liked The Sims 1 and The Sims 2 the most. (But I also still like to play Theme Hospital and even Theme Park from Bullfrog!)
I still don't know, why EA/Maxis edit this game so hard that you can't run it on older Windows (XP or 7 too) . There are HD patches on the internet for original game and it runs perfectly without any crashes or bug :-) . But you need to download ISO files from ex. archive.org , for The Sims Complete collection or download Original The Sims 1 and all expansions. I still have Windows 7 , so I have to play the original game too :-/ :-) .

While I understand lots of people are having issues I just haven't personally experienced them. I've had a single crash since I got the game and it was my fault so I can't really count that. Guess I got lucky with this and sims 2 because they both run great for me. Perhaps it is down to me having a slightly older pc then most trying to play? Not sure I just know my own experience but thanks for adding your unnecessarily negative 2 cents ^^

"Yeah, he hit me, but it was my fault" kind of a deal. We all know EA is a big meanie, you don't need to defend them.

On topic of crashing however, you only seem to have played for 4.8 hours. Give it some more time and soon you'll have to turn the vox option down for it to stop crashing. That's a given.

Yeah but the complaints aren't "Oh I've played x hrs and now my game won't work" so the logic of waiting doesn't apply here. Nor does your argument of me defending them. I intentionally caused the crash to test something and other than that had no issues. Someone asked if people have been able to play with no issues so I shared my experience. If that's not your experience then I apologise but that doesn't discredit mine.
