The Sims™ Legacy Collection

The Sims™ Legacy Collection

[SOLVED] Sims 1 Legacy Collection can't load other neighbourhoods?
I've been trying to fill the lands with houses, as I used to when I played the game back on ye olde days, with the Livin' Large expansion pack. But when I try to load a new neighbourhood, the game doesn't even try to load it, it's stuck on neighbourhood 1. Is this legacy edition incomplete? Doen't it have the Livin' Large Expansion pack installed? Why does the option appear, but when I click the arrows nothing happens?

Edit: Found a solution. I really don't know what exactly is it that caused this particular issue, but it fixed itself once I deleted the save files folder from my user profile. Basically, you have to go to C:/User/*yourusername*/Game Saves/Electronic Arts/Sims25. Just delete the Sims folder and Uninstall the game through Steam, then Install it again.
I don't know why is it that such a simple fix needs this much workaround to solve it, but considering EA won't be doing anything about it, it's something!

You can most definitely play the other hoods. I don't know why it won't work on your end though... it seems this game version is rather finicky. Everything works well on my end, all things considered. *knocks on wood*
I have this same exact issue. I cant load any other neighborhood besides the 1st one. Its annoying
I did this and it didnt work now my game just wont load ugh

I had so many issues with this game and tried so many things!

It has only made things worse. I tried the Intel graphics thing. Then it worked for a few minutes were i could load passed the startup screen and do all the dialog loading the unleashed superstar and making magic stuff. I then went to do this on all 8 neighborhoods it did well till i went to the 8th. Then It just closed to desktop. Now thats all it does when i click on the game is it tries to go to the start up then it just goes back to my desktop. The game doesn't even launch...

I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it. It does not even get to the startup screen now. I have tried to see if it was a problem on my D drive so i installed it on C. Doesn't matter.

Such a rip off i was really looking forward to play this game and i can't.

Rai: you should knock on wood very hard because this game is broken and it is just a matter of time before you loose all your progress... good luck and sim speed lol

R_B_K: Thank you for the suggestion of physically deleted the files and try reinstalling it... i will try this and see if it works... I will let you know. UPDATE: doesn't work

Its so funny u say that, cause yes, I did lost all my progress, yaayyyy!
I had 3 families I was always super excited to play, every day, then one day, the game decided to crash, and now everytime I try to start the game, it crashes after loading/before map view. I thought it was because of my tons of mods, so I did a backup of it, unistalled, and installed again several times, it loaded pass the loading screen, BUT then BOOOM: my houses are gone, the families are gone. i think thats forever. The files ARE there (in the The Sims 25 folder and also in the Steam folder), the game simply doesn't read the files. It starts as new.

So yeah, the game is broken.
(I will post a separeted topic on that, so I can see if theres more ppl in that situation)

I'm sorry to hear that :,( As a fellow Sim fan that had spend hundreds of hours on this game when i was younger i can relate I feel the pain. Years back I lost all my progress after my computer's failed. I lost about a hundred families and hundreds of lots of my mansions and castles i created. I am scarred from the loss of my many creations wiped out!

Now with the new legacy collection I can't even make it to the neighborhood screen before the game crashes. 2.1 hours that steam shows that i played. Each time the game crashed only lasting 15-30 seconds each attempt before it crashes. imagine how many times i tried to get it to work. I have researched so many ideas from people. NOTHING WORKS! I spent weeks working on it till i gave up.

I have not tried in March because i was waiting to see others stories of how the game works before i put my computer at risk again.

So far i see nothing but more complaints so yeah this is a lost cause i think. I love creating and feel betrayed and crushed by EA's negligence with their games. They had somewhat of a masterpiece for gamers here with The Sims 1 and 2. Too bad EA couldn't have brought it back for us again without issues! What a real shame!
If you're still having trouble loading, try running the game as an admin through the game's folder rather than Steam's launcher.
Also, if you lose your data, just backup the game save folder from your user one, to be clear that the source is indeed from the files themselves, not the installation. Might be a good idea to run Control Panel and uninstall the game from there.
