So there was an update today... but I still could not play -_-

Before the update, the game would just launch and then close.

Now I get an error saying "the game was unable to find a suitable vulkan device sims 1"

I have tried all the provided workarounds for this, such as switching to an integrated graphics card, running the game via compatibility mode, running it as admin... but this still won't launch....

Any advice?

I am having the same issue. Spent a stupid amount of time trying to get it working. The best part is that I got the game running on this same laptop using the old CDs. It was a pain. But at least it was free.

The updated added the error code so now it does not close without a reason why. It now tells you way it closed.

Your pc need to be competable with vulkan. If it is not you can not run it.

Its stupid that they did not add vulkan to the required software on the shop details.

If you have vulkan and pc is competable uninstal the program. After a restart you can play the game normaly.

I am trying to get this running on an old laptop (Intel HD 3000 GPU):
- Sims 1 does not run because of missing Vulkan
- Sims 2 does run without any problems

Yes, i know that my gpu is way behind minimum specs, but i am confused why Sims 2 runs, but Sims 1 doesnt. I would have guessed that both games use the same "port"-engine in the Legacy Ports.

Maybe this is really a problem or error in the latest Sims 1 patch.
We will see soon (hopefully).
