Update brings demand for Vulkan?

saw the update this morning. Now it wont start, but its because it needs vulkan. Hoping this is just a bug of the update. Is there any work around for this in the mean time?

Now it starts with an error "Vulkan Initialization Failed"; "The game was unable to find a suitable Vulkan device on this machine". I have an Intel core and onboard graphics...

Try going into you add/remove programs there is a a program called opencl opengl and vulkan compatibility pack. I removed it and the game launched. Before removing it i was getting a vulkan error too.

hmmm idk then Im on windows 11 with nvidia gpu before the update it wasn't even launching it would close right away when clicking on start. After the update i got the vulkan error. Maybe make sure all you drivers are up to date.

Its nice that the game at least tries to start with today's update as im at least getting a error now instead of crashing immediately but sadly it seems that it still needs more work EA, as were all getting the same error about Vulkan Initialization Failed

Vulkan was a requirement for the Legacy version from the beginning, since compared to the original game, they changed the renderer from the ancient DirectDraw to Vulkan, possibly by using Wined3d as a wrapper.

Without Vulkan support, it previously just crashed (these where the bug reports where installing the VS C++ redists _didn't_ help), and now it crashes with an error message (and not silently) if initializing the Vulkan renderer failed.

So it still has the same requirements, it just fails "gracefully".

You need current graphics drivers and a graphics card that provides Vulkan support. Installing the VulkanRT without having matching drivers won't fix the problem, I tested this in a VM.

Do you uninstall it? (I've never gone into it before and all I see is uninstall as the only thing closest to being considered "removing" it.)
