You answer both your questions in this text. It is a re-release. Thus as little changes to it as possible. New graphics options and compatibility basically. Its how you remember and you should be happy.
If you want a remake, there is prolly a mod for that. This is a re-issue and, when it is not crashing and generally being obtuse, it is a great re-release of the 25 year old game.
