The Sims™ Legacy Collection

The Sims™ Legacy Collection

Why we have to pay second time for this games??
Its not logical for me the sims 2 was few years ago for free and now people need to pay?

Was it Sims 2 Complete?

I don't care enough to the prices, as Sims1/2 are virtually better than 4
Sadly the game came very buggy, I'll keep myself optimistic for patches

I had to buy Spore two times either, but is a nickel to pay for more comfort

I was asking myself the same. I got The Sims 2 when it was for free on Origin - now EA - and even if I'd buy the newer version now for the better resolution etc - I don't know if it would clash with my other Sims game. And I'd also just like to keep my savefiles from the old game. I was hoping that they'd just publish it as an Update for everyone who still got The Sims / 2 in the EA Launcher

The Sims 2 was given away ONE time for a special promotion. It was only regularly available for "free" for people who owned the physical version (and could still prove it with their CD keys) because at some point EA no longer supported the original Sims 2 launcher or something like that.

Your old save files will probably still work in these "new" versions. Just copy and paste them into the save location and see what happens. Even if that doesn't work I'm sure there will be a tool for save conversions in the near future. Sims modders are very thorough lol

there's technically literally nothing new in those versions beside one or two streched title screens ... otherwise, everything is in the old ways with still not upscaled GUI or poorly zoomed camera on higher resolutions

that's why older saves will probably will work with this version, cause there's NOTHING new about it
You don't have to pay. Play the version you own.

You dont have to. You can play it for free, I personally just want to set a sign that Sims 1 is still worth it.

Then just don't buy it a second time and play your original copies. Who is forcing you to buy...?

If you have a pc you most likely already own these games in physical format. You got thesse legacy collections for free on orgin before also. I no longer have a cd player though.

I am in the same boat... Bought physical three times (once in another country as the packs were released), once in my new country and again after moving and losing the disc (how it happened still baffles me).

I did make a note of the key, but neither steam nor EA will accept the key... I don't want to spend $$$ (even if it is only $20) for what would become a fourth copy.

My custom built PC does not include a CD/DVD drive and the case does not have provisions for one. External seems such a waste for a single use case... Even so, it would not have the new updates for it to run on windows 10/11 etc...

I can't find any way to reach a human being at EA, their AI is useless to me...

Any idea's?

Just use a VM

Of course you can without any VM. But you need The Sims Deluxe instead of original The Sims 1 (or just the Complete Edition) , because original The Sims 1 hasn't got setup.exe file to run installation. Other expansions you can install by the setup.exe file. Then use Widescreen Patcher https://github.com/FaithBeam/Sims-1-Complete-Collection-Widescreen-Patcher and good to go :-) .

This steam works fine after the latest patch. I only have the first 2 expansions on the original.
