I remember the og 1 worked on Linux. Just change Deck/gamescope resolution to 720p.

Doesn't Deck have touchscreen support? I'm pretty sure with that and virtual keyboard when it's need could work.

Initially boots up on my LED Steam Deck but shows a red screen with FIXME: WMP, gets past that and then crashes when loading “Recomputing Mammal Matrix”. Completely unplayable for me.

Try going to the gear on the game, properties,compatibility, proton experimental.
It should launch with that enable

Yes can confirm this works on the Deck and same for The Sims 2.
