I get the same issue where the game will not launch.
same
Is the issue going to be addressed or fixed or are they just going to ignore it? Wish I didn't have to get a refund

Why god why.

I can't even leave a review of my experience because despite launching the game probably 100 times every which way, I haven't amassed more than 1 minute of playtime (4 less than needed to leave a review). Now I'm starting to see why the score isn't completely in the negative.

I don't want to play the game badly enough to grab it from somewhere like My Abandonware, where I know it will work, but my nostalgia for The Sims 1 is through the roof and the return of these games to stores is something that should be celebrated. Take a drink every time someone says they really don't want this refund. EA didn't have to launch this without notice if it wasn't ready...

Lol installed the abandonware Complete collection with widescreen patch and works flawlessly, ridiculous that the re release doesn't work. Don't buy until there's a patch.

Having the same problem 😢
I got it to work. Here's what I did:
1. Set compatibility to Windows XP (SP2)
2. Download Visual C++ Redistributable (x64)
2a. Run exe for redist x64
2b. select uninstall
2c. Run exe for redist x64 again
2d. install
3. Download Visual C++ Redistributable (x86)
3a. Run exe for redist x86
3b. select uninstall
3c. Run exe for redist x86 again
3d. install
4. Win
Can't open it on my laptop, but I can on my desktop PC. I've tried the "fixes" some users say they worked for them. Unfortunately, they do not work for me. Hope they provide a patch ASAP

If you have laptop with 2 GPU you need change your main GPU to internal(INTEL).
For NVIDIA:
NVIDIA control panel -> Manage 3D settings -> Program Settings -> Choose program The Sims and change main GPU to intel
PS: It's work for me. Good luck
That worked for me. I had to do a similiar issue to play fallout 3.
