Are you kidding me? Lootboxes in 2024? Might as well eat your own damn legs off. I loved Dauntless for a long time and was looking forward to coming back... but then I read through the reviews and see how the devs have slaughtered this once great game. Limited time battlepasses? ♥♥♥♥ off. Lootboxes? ♥♥♥♥ off.

The idiot devs shot themselves in the foot by doing this. What a joke.

They did delete everything though. You got 100 tokens to unlock a free weapon. Woohooo. Hunt pass is terrible and now weapons are locked behind paywall , and all veteran progress has been reset so yeah. People did lose everything. I was a day one founder. So get lost defending this decision lmao. They don’t care about the playerbase and the people who have put in thousands of hours previously , they wipe everything for no reason . It’s the same damn game with some changes to make you pay for stuff now

Weapons are not locked behind a paywall you can get tokens through game play. The repeaters on the pass is the only one that you have to spend plat to get. Which you could do to get other weapons prior like suns. People did not lose everything stop with the hyperbole. I also am a day 1 founder so step back with your flex. They 100% do care about the playerbase or you wouldn't even have pinned topics here asking for feedback. If they didn't care they would just ignore these forums completely. Over 5K hours played in this game they have had major updates before and we survived. Personally I enjoy the changes it was getting pretty boring.

I guess if I have to defend against hyperbole and false information then it is what it is. But if you are just going to sit there and flat out lie I am going to call it out.

I have stated in other places I don't care for the loot boxes but that is hardly the hill worth dying on. Don't like them don't buy them simple fix... I am hardly boot licking by calling out BS for what it is. But you seem to have a chub for me so maybe we should catch dinner and a movie you into some CBT?

It's like a friend murdering someone. I'm not just going to ignore the murder and say, "well, otherwise he's a good dude."

What do you think people are doing? They AREN'T giving Phoenix Labs money, along with the strain on the servers yesterday, with what I can assume is a record low player count NOW, the negative reviews reaching "15% positive", and the game making it's way to the front page of the steam reddit for how mid this update is...
It might not even make it a month if they don't do something quick BECAUSE of all the bad changes and pay walled weapon (which requires two months of grinding without the 500 token bonus from being a veteran).

Now see those are some valid points. I agree the compensation for what was changed was lack luster at best or down right cheap ass if I am being honest. I also agree the loot crates are not a great idea. However, I do not agree that the changes are bad, the game has changed a lot a lot since it released, and they have walked things back before, the fix is HONEST VALID FEEDBACK not just screaming "this sucks I quit", they literally have pinned topics here for feedback and half the comments are "you ruined everything" now tell me how does that even remotely help?

They have had weapons you had to buy in the store before that's nothing new putting it on the pass was actually kind of not a bad deal not having it obtainable in game through play that bothers me a lot.

Is the incentive to buy weapon tokens there oh 100%, but screaming that all the content is locked behind a paywall is intellectually dishonest. As monetization goes this is nothing. !st Descendant, ESO literally $100s of dollars for a house, I can name a bunch of other games that make this look like chump change on the fleece your players front.

"I quit" is honest feedback. It means "you screwed up so bad, it's irredeemable in my eyes, so I'm out." It means that person doesn't care how they fix it. They feel so wronged, nothing the devs could do would make it better.

We do know that lootboxes as a whole can be viewed as a pretty contentious topic, and while it was important to the future of Dauntless for us to add an option for players to choose to support ongoing development, we wanted to make sure that we were really careful in the approach.

Dauntless: Awakening Specific Canisters:
- are cosmetic items only
- display fully transparent ‘odds’ in the game
Do -not- give players duplicates, so you’ll never get something you already have


On a more general note for the rest of the thread, we want to remind everyone that while you’re welcome to have differing opinions on this topic (or any topic, really), any comments insulting each other are going to get deleted. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but they should be expressing those respectfully with one another.
