I fixed it by going to Steam\steamapps\common\Alien Shooter 2 - Reloaded\ and editing AlienShooter.cfg to change to these settings:

DefaultScreenX=1920
DefaultScreenY=1080

I had the same problem, but I've solved it by disabling "steam in game" in game preferences.

Thanks, changing resolution fixed the black screen problem; anyways the maximum resolution supported by the game is 1024 x768.
