GIRLS' FRONTLINE 2: EXILIUM

GIRLS' FRONTLINE 2: EXILIUM

3 months of progress for nothing.
You play on Darkwinter for 3 months, make progress and spend money, only to find out on Steam release that the game is split into 2 launchers for different regions, Darkwinter and Haoplay, of which the half of the players can only use Haoplay because Darkwinter is locally blocked for many.
Haoplay is of course the launcher where you CANNOT transfer your 3-month progress from Darkwinter and have to start from the beginning.

It doesn't really matter, I can just play the game via the Darkwinter launcher, even though I would have much preferred to do it via Steam, but seriously, what is this crap.
And who came up with the clever idea of splitting the game into 2 launchers between which you cannot exchange your progress.

Hopefully someone will come up with a solution soon, after 90% of the negative reviews can be traced back to this reason.

If you live in a non-Darkwinter region then this should have been expected honestly, especially since you could always see the publisher that you would have for the Steam version. (Even if you could download both versions from each publishers official website and play without issues no matter where you live)

Then again, is it a dumb idea that they split the game up into 2 launchers? (well technically 3 if you count in CN) But yes, it is an incredibly dumb idea.
As for transferring progress between Darkwinter to Haoplay or the other way around, that will probably not happen, or at least not anytime soon. Different publishers handling the data after all

For people that have Darkwinter progress, guess you'll just have to wait until someone finds a solution that works. Honestly hoping that it won't take too long until a good solution comes up! :happy_yeti:

Edit: There was someone that said that you could copy and paste your GFL2 Darkwinter files to the Steam game folder and it would work? Not sure, but could be worth a try

Where could you decide 3 months ago in the standalone whether you wanted Darkwinter or Haoplay? I downloaded the launcher and immediately played on Darkwinter without being able to decide.

I also read and tried the copy paste but it didn't work and I gave up after the 5th attempt.

How to migrate your GFL2 (DW launcher) to GFL2 (steam)
THERE'S TWO STORE PAGES FOR GFL2 STEAM, DW VER USE APPID 3347400 AND HAOPLAY USE APPID 3308670

  • Download and Run GFL 2 on Steam first, let the game run update until it shows the 35GB+
  • Download then exit
  • Open your original GFL 2 Folder > GF2 Game > GF2_Exilium_Data, Copy Everything
  • Paste it on Steam's GFL2 GF2_Exilium_Data folder
  • Then do a verify
"

Thinking about it, this might only be IF you can access the DW Steam page in the first place. Unless anyone can try this

it works

Standalone got 2 version, one Haoplay and the other Darkwinter, at first I played darkwinter but after doing some research (gift codes) I've seen that it got 2 version and so I had to download the Haoplay version (fortunatly the same day).

Doing some research is always important and while I don't have the steam version yet I've seen that apparently you can change the region.

doesn't work because APPID 3347400 is blocked for my country.

I tried replacing the files in the Haoplay folder from my Darkwinter folder and verifying them, but that doesn't work either.
It only works if you transfer Haoplay data to Haoplay data and Darkwinter data to Darkwinter data, but not if you have two different ones.
It's hilarious people said you should have "looked it up on steam (where the game was inaccessible) 3 months ago" after you just searched the game up online, downloaded it, and everything worked smoothly at once.
If I download a game I am assuming that the client from the official site is the right one.

I suppose I'll just continue not using Steam for this game, since I actually want my progress to be saved.
