Can't seem to get it to work. Launched the first time, now it doesn't open at all. Anyone else have issues?

For me it was working after installing the game so you might give that a try, you can always back up the files just in case. Also Kaa said in his reddit thread use unistaller instead to install webview2 it will be easier.

no I only reinstalled because I messed up on my previous atempt too much.
Now I do agree that atm its too much of a hassle, just play on your phone, which is what I do since the game doesnt even launch anymore for me lol, and I didnt even do anything, it just stopped working.
Gotta wait and hope they make it playable on deck I guess

ALRIGHT, so I finally managed to get this working.

Basically I followed reniel's guide almost 100%, BUT I ended up having to use a different installer for the WebView2 thing (I got this one[github.com]).

Also, I didn't realise that aaaall of the protontricks stuff needed to happen BEFORE downloading/installing the game (after launching it via Steam).

So in terms of steps :
- I downloaded the game via Steam storepage, didn't launch it yet
- Downloaded the webview exe on the side
- launched proton tricks, did all the steps
- only then did I launch the game from my library (in gaming mode), it downloaded the 36 gigs, and I got to log in without any issues.

Although yes it does appear that sometimes the game will just not launch, so I guess the gacha begins before even playing?
And being patient paid off, sometimes stuff took a little bit of time to work, even though it seemed like it froze.

I hope my feedback will be useful for the few brave souls who will try to play on the Deck!

I've already done that twice and it works, but when I want to open the game the next day it just doesn't open, Steam tells me that it's starting the game but it never opens, I've tried opening it several times and nothing, it's frustrating how a simple gacha causes so many problems on the steam deck

Yeah we're having the exact same issue, kind of a bummer, but hey at least it works well on mobile.

I also had that issue. I tried "verifying game data". After that the game starts but freezes when I press the "start now" button in the loading screen

I have the same problem unfortunately, I am trying to find solution. I will keep you updated if something works.

I'm having the same issue as some people here, I followed all the steps I did to get the game working on both Lutris and Bottles, I specifically followed Turbo_Vergil's advice to do all the steps before launching the game for the first time, but the result is the same, Steam says the game is running but nothing happens, it never even launches for the first time so I can't even download the ~36 Gb
Already posted this on ProtonDB, I have no clue as to what else I should try.

Okay, I believe I found a fix, somebody needs to test this as it is working for me. Something is interfering with compdata and maybe somebody got better idea. If you completed previous steps and the game is not launching go to the desktop mode and run steam. Find gfl2 game and go to the properties -> general and under the launch options type
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="steam.exe=b" %command%
(this wil disable steam functions inside the game like achievments or overlay. As the game probably does not use those it should be fine) and exit the window. Now on the task bar right bottom exit steam completly and launch it again. After restarting steam launch the game form steam page. If the game does not launch and says "running" stop it through the steam button and launch again. This is what worked for me. If it did for you please share as I have one more step that I did and may be necessary. I will update the previous guide latter.

It's still the same, the game definitely doesn't open, it just stays "loading", waiting for the game to open, how sad that they delayed the steam version so that it turned out so badly, it deserves all those negative reviews even though the game is good and very entertaining.

I reinstalled and tried this again and I can confirm it did work for me again. Could you test it with GE-Proton9-25 compatibility? You can get that by installing ProtonUp-Qt from discovery store. (Remember to exit steam completly before applying new proton with this tool.) and remember to re-apply in protontricks winecfg windows 7 compatibility for msedgewebview2.exe.

Unfortunately I had the same result as bgfo22, Steam says the game is running but nothing happens, tried waiting for 5 minutes but still nothing, had to kill the process through system monitor, tried launching the game again but still the same.
I then uninstalled game, deleted any leftover files, installed it again, did the steps but I got the same result, I tried this three separate times, one with proton experimental, one with GE-Proton9-25 and another with GE-Proton9-20, same result in all three (game doesn't even launch)

It does not even open up a game window anymore

No, it's still the same, yesterday it opened without problems, I played for about 3 hours and everything was fine, but when I want to open it today it loads without running the game, it just doesn't open the game, I like the game and I want to support it, but there has come a point where I'm getting annoyed with it due to so many reinstallations (I've already had 6), I guess it's time to wait for the devs to fix it, which I don't think will happen since from the beginning they were never interested in the version of steam.

Thanks for the help friend, really, but I guess this game wasn't for me, although I did enjoy playing it the times it opened.
