GIRLS' FRONTLINE 2: EXILIUM

GIRLS' FRONTLINE 2: EXILIUM

Where are the gun girls?
Am I missing something? I thought Girls Frontline was about girls who were named after real life guns, and the gun they're named after is the only gun they use.
Why does GFL2 have these random generic names for (most) girls, and they aren't restricted to using what they're named after? Is GFL2 going in a new (disappointing) direction than GFL 1?

the "lore" reason is because the naming was done by G&K but since it disbanded at this point the T-Dolls are free to name themselves whatever they want or go back to the names they had before joining G&K, and to answer your question about guns, yes they aren't restricted but they are still "imprinted" and using the weapon/gun they are imprinted with will give them a bonus

You also need to keep in mind many players are not that deep into real life weapons and when the doll's name is a string of numbers it's much harder to remember what to call them. I mean I played the first game for almost two years and still couldn't tell you the name of some of my favorites without pulling up the wiki page.

About if GFL2 is going into a new direction then the answer is yes.

They've arrived at the current fotm of having just two rarities for dolls and two different tickets for making pulls. There is no doll construction with resources anymore and weapons drop in the same gacha. They do offer focus banners with increased chances, standard chance however is 2,31% for elite doll, 13% for standard doll or purple weapon, and 84,69% for worthless weapon.

That is a shame, I guess I won't be playing this game, then. The appeal of GFL as well as similar games like Azur Lane is that you were essentially playing favorites with real life objects, so even if your character has a crappy design, you could continue with no worries knowing that you were showing some form of support for a gun you really like. But GFL2 is problematic for multiple reasons. For one, the character design is rather uninspired and reeks a little too much of "Hoyoverse-inspired" features. Secondly, there will presumably be times when I won't even be able to recognize character x or y because they aren't using their trademark weapon and they are using some kind of costume.

All in all, quite disappointing, but then again, the last thing I need is more gacha to monopolize my time without even giving me the courtesy of rolling whatever character I want without dipping into my real life wallet.

Sorry to Necro but I agree. And it's rather sad the community is already replacing the identity of guns. They're using their fake names and drawing them with random guns. It's sad to see, a game ruining its own community

Many people playing GFL 2 are tourists that never touched GFL 1 and just don't care about its story. Most veterans I know still refer to the girls with their GFL 1 names (in case they were already in the game).

IIRC, MICA wanted the dolls to be more "human", so they dropped their gunnames and started to use the ones of GFL 2. Thats also the reason why there are no more dummy links.

Your name is Loli Supremacy, you play Azur Lane, and you're saying this game is problematic? I think you need to take a good long look in the mirror m'dude.
