It's completly irrelevant as to whether you believe. You can take the ostrich approach but that doesn't stop something being true.
It's George R.R. who asked Telltale to make the game because the others who tried didn't live up to the expectations. (fans weren't happy)
To be sure that the games was good George sent a consultant to Telltale to make sure the game respect the lore.
However do not expect to live the main story.
Telltale games are all about choices so it will be a side story. And i'm pretty sure it'll be a damn good one.
I just hope the price get down to 15$. My policy is 1$=1h. And telltale games tend to be short.
I believe they approached him and strength of their storytelling is what convinced him.
