It's also a nice trick by telltale to make you want to forget your vows.
Even so, due to the events at the end of Episode 3, I may not have any other choice but to leave, even though I did my best not to kill that dude (ummm, spoilers?)
Not like we will be given any actual choice, but still.
That is one way that I've thought of, although I did forget that Duncan doesn't want me to tell anyone. But again, this was before he mentioned that I'll have to leave the Night's Watch entirely, and I can't agree with that. Duncan said that Gared represents House Forrester at The Wall; Gared's honor will reflect on that of the House. Exactly what will they think of that honor if he leaves the Watch?
It will be much better if I tell the Night's Watch about the Grove, and, with help from either Duncan or another rep of House Forrester, make a deal to allow the House and the Watch to share the Grove, at least for a certain time. Once Snow becomes the Lord Commander, it might be possible to make such a deal work. Duncan won't like it, but it doesn't have to be him to represent the House to make the deal work (I didn't make him Sentinel in my first playthrough, so he can't use that against me).
Role playing, I will not abanden the wall or the Nights Watch, absent a pardon from the current King.
I have discussed in other forms that leaving the Nights Watch role playing wise is not a smart move, and will make you a social pariah, would not want to live the rest of my characters days looking over my shoulder.
Whose to say that that can't happen to Gared? Jon Snow himself might be able to put in a good word, which could spare Gared' life.
