Episode 5 ruined the entire series
Episode 5 killed this entire game.

Nothing mattered. The scene with Tyrion? Unconsequential and useless. The traitor? A huge letdown and doesn't make any sense no matter who your traitor was. For me it was Ser Royland, he gave some un-memorable reasons and at that point I didn't care because it was so obvious. But in Episode 4 I ordered him to attack Ludd Whitehill at the meeting and he buried an axe in Ludd's face so if he was a traitor at that point, he was a terrible one. Again, made no sense.

The Ramsey "best house wins" was another half hearted cop out by TTG knowing that Ramsey couldn't be killed. Didn't even bother trying to cut his throat because eveyrone knows Ramsey is alive in both the books and show, so why even present that choice? It didn't even matter because the outcome is the same regardless of Ramsey's status in the books/show.

Oh, I get a choice whether to keep my sword or leave it? Doesn't matter, Ramsey takes it anyway.

I get that there's an ILLUSION of choice, and I've managed to go with it for 5 episodes but this one takes the cake as the most unimaginative, uninspired set of choices that as usual don't matter.

Just a total letdown. Not to mention the 1 hour of gameplay, the shortest episode thus far, makes all the previous choices completely irrelevant.

Remember the choice of whether to go after Gryff or Ryon? Doesn't matter, Gryff escapes anyway. The Ryon prisoner exchange thing wasn't even addressed in Episode 5. The decision to keep the Glenmores at Ironwrath or have them stay? Again, didn't matter. Married the Glenmore lady or not? Didn't matter. Made friends with Jon Snow at Castle Black? Didn't matter. "Jon Snow will remember that". Well he's dead and you're forced to abandon the wall anyway.

I KNOW there's the illusion, just as people can watch Kermit the Frog and during that time believe he's a real person, but Episode 5 was like an elementary school children's play. It was so poorly written, poorly executed, poorly implemented it was like children wrote the script.

Sorry for being so critical but I have bought and played the majority of these TTG story games and if TWD S1 and the Wolf was the best, this SPECIFIC episode was the worst thing they ever made.

Anyone remember TWD Season 1 Episode 2? Remember how amazing, engaging, and special that was? Well that magic is gone. I don't know what's changed with TTG, maybe they have different writers, producers, but I'm done. I won't even be playing Episode 6. It's just too terrible at this point. I don't even want to find out what half-hearted, irrelevant ending they had planned.

Agreed! So much agreed. I was completely let down too. Life is Strange does choices so much better.

Episode 5 1 hour only??? this must be joke? Are ttg now doing 1 hour long episodes?

Yeah the choices you make doesn't really do anything. It's just an illusion as you said. There is no real branching here. I could probably replay this series and make only bad decisions and still come out on top.

I first noticed it when I failed to get the betrothal to the Glenmores and they still helped me later on.

The only real choice in this series that will probaly dramatically change the outcome is at the end of Episode 5 when you have to decide between Asher or Rodrik. Because based on that decision one POV character is completley removed and it would, I hope, essentially be two different POV outcomes for the final episode as one takes over as the new Lord of House Forrester.

Or they just remake the same scenes with both characters and different voiceover. Probably... >_>

Actually come to think of it when the first Lord died, the kid you play as in Ep 1, I started to think oh maybe I could have prevented that. But probably not as that wouldn't fit into the rest of the story and the game does not really branch that deep.

Still I will play the final Episode but damn these choices actually makes you think it matters but it doesn't really do that one bit at all throughout the whole game. Unless the final episode really takes all previous choices into account and House Forrester can actually fall as part of an actual ending.

I doubt it.

Yeah, I want my money back.

I was annoyed that you coudln't prevent Ethan's death in Episode 1, even when taking all the precautions, Ramsey ex Machina trumps everything.

I was annoyed, but kept going as it's a TTG game and these things happen.

But by this episode it seemed like it was just so poorly done, I've had enough.

I don't think the Asher or Rodrik choice will matter at all. The scene in the cave with the dragon didn't matter, so why should this one? Or any of them?

If you choose Asher, he gets shot in the leg. So I'm suspecting a bum leg will cause the death of the surviving brother in ep 6.

And Mira getting the letter from Tyrion's chambers...did that actually mean anything? There was no mention of anything about the crown buying the Ironwood, it made for a great suspensful scene but it seems like TTG forgot that it actually happened.

I was annoyed with the Tyrion scene in the dungeon. He acts like Mira is the one who put him there or something.

Yeah, I have realized they are having different people produce and write these episodes....and it is DESTROYING continuity and synergy between the episodes. Don't know what is going on at Tell tale, but they better get their act together because this single episode cost them a lot of my goodwill.

They perhaps need to not do as many projects at one time and focus on making their core projects home runs EACH EPISODE. At this point, they have moved from 'must buy' too: I'll wait till all the episodes are out, read the reviews, and buy at a disount if the reviews are good,

I made a thread about this, none of your choices throughout the game make any difference at all. I enjoyed the story up to this episode, I'm hoping episode 6 can save it otherwise this will be the first and last TTG game I buy.

I enjoyed the ride so far, but not like I did The Wolf Among Us or Walking Dead S1. I gotta agree with OP in most cases. =\
