Besides, the game is much better while watching the show, because you are in full hype mode for GoT... the game without the show to elevate it, is nice but not the best work Telltale has done.
Just my opinion though,,,
Seriously, it's incredible.
So yeah, watch the show first...and while you do, AVOID ANYTHING EVEN REMOTELY GOT-RELATED ON THE INTERNET. That means EVERYTHING, including the imdb page, Youtube clips of scenes from the show, Wiki entries, etc. There are spoilers everywhere that could rob you of the shock and enjoyment of major plot twists.
Once you watch the show, the game will take on new meaning and significance.
Maybe, and certainly not season 5.
The only people who don't like season 5 are the ones who are angry about the show passing the print narrative, and "spoiling" their precious books. That's no one's fault except Georgie's for writing slower than old people shag.
In the meantime, S5 had some of the best moments of the series, and improved upon the snail's pace of the last two novels.
The show has not passed the books in a single narrative plotline. And is non-canon regardless. Read the books.
+1
I've read the books, malaka.
Sounds like you're the one who didn't read them. Tyrion already in Meereen, Battle of Winterfell already complete, Stannis character arc complete, and lots of others...the show has passed the books in several different places. The complaint about canon is just the rage of a fanboy who can't accept that the show will spoil his precious books. Go cry about Arianne Martell at Westeros.org, where there might be someone who cares.
1. Tyrion is already in Meereen
This is revisionist history and non-canon. Barristan Selmy is well and alive and we know chronologically Daenerys is "captured" before Tyrion reaches Meereen, if he ever gets there at all. Re-read you moron. Peter Dinklage has the dullest performance I've ever seen in Season 5, he delivers dialogue so flat I genuinely believe he is either giving up or developed an ego. Your show sucks
2. Battle of Winterfell already complete
This is ambigious information in the books. It seems clear that Ramsay led a sorty to ambush Stannis while he was marching onto Winterfell. But this is seen from Asha's point of view and ends abruptly. The result of the battle is unknown, but the circumstances are different from that of the show. Yet again, the show is doing it's own thing.
3. Stannis character arc complete
Perhaps not even true for the show. You have an immediate cut to black before you see the sword made contact. I'm calling ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that Stannis will be alive and that Brienne spared him in the show. Because why not.
If it is complete, then I guess you're fine. It is still however non-canonical. As it ties in with the battle of winterfell and circumstances of the battle.
Ramsay is a manipulative sociopath, and provides the only evidence that the battle was concluded in his favor. It is, however, unreliable.
4. And lots of others
Which means you ran out of examples ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
5. ♥♥♥♥ that certainly is non-canon
Jaime arrives at King's Landing before Joffrey's death.
This seriously impacts character development and understanding of their personality. From here you can really see a diverge between Song of Ice and Fire Jaime and Game of Thrones Jaime. One in which he never cared for his son, and one in which he is vengeful.
Jaime goes to Dorne
At first I was excited, because it was adventurous and had action in which Jaime had to overcome his disability. It quickly ended however and resulted in boring non-sensical political dialogue with more and more non-canonical consequences.
Jaime should be running around cleaning up the war of the five kings and resolving beseiged castles and subduing Riverrun.
Instead we see Princess Myrcella killed for 'revenge'. As opposed to Mrycella being used as a figurehead queen to start a war with the Lannisters and take the throne of Westeros.
The development and characters of Sand Snakes continue to diverge here, showing more evidence of non-canon.
Barristan Selmy dies
I mentioned that already. This is was silly, and was the moment I gave up taking the show seriously in any regard, and started treating it as a parody.
Jane Westerling dies at the Red Wedding
Minor really, but consequential. Robb Stark will have an heir through Jane Westerling in the books, but she died in the show. So...
Jon's development
No explanation in the show beyond Ollie being like 'Oi ai dont liek dem wildengs jon shnow' and Alliser Throne being a 'bad guy'. Jon dies because he betrays the neutrality of the Night's Watch, not because of wildings.
Sansa Stark in Winterfell
This is one of the most baffling for me. At first it could interesting to see Sansa and Petyr work in sync to politcally manipulate other houses, but it is soon made clear that Petyr basically sells Sansa to Ramsay. An absolute breaking of character and timeline of the story. Petyr does love Sansa and he holds the Eryie. He's not about to pawn her off to a sociopathic bastard of a house hated by everyone they lord over.
Your precious fanboyism of the show is disgusting, I haven't seen such fervent defense of something wrong since Hitler.
I would be fine to entertain a discussion about differences in the show and books, but you seem to believe from the start that you're superior to everyone else here and anyone who appreciates an intricate ongoing story.
Get the ♥♥♥♥ out of here dude.
