right now, I'm getting a black screen right now every 2 seconds, if I put the game in full screen mode with Alt-Enter, and there are really bad aliasing issues. I can play in Window mode, but the resolution is tiny at 1024x768.
Since this game is basically dead development wise, this rollback method might be your only hope, short of building a Windows 7, Windows 8 PC.
I found a way to fix the issue I was getting...but it was sort of cheating...
the problem was with the resolutuion that it was trying to launch the game...
I installed it in my older pc, and it worked great... so I copied all the files and replaced the ones in my notebook (where it wouldn't open)
from there, the game launched at fullscreen 720p and I was able to adjust other settings...
I don't know if there is a easier way that don't use 2 computers...but it worked for me...
maybe there is a way to change configuration settings from the .ini file, but I was to dumb to understand how to do this!
For your case, have you tried to remove all the effects?
Is really sad to see a game dying like this due to compatiblity issues with drivers...
is a really good program that transform everything in borderless windowed mode
maybe give it a try on the free version =D
