Yeah, I know that much.
But what I'm asking is what books I must have read in order to not spoil the story.
All of them.
Game of Thrones, Clash of Kings, Storm of Swords, Feast of Crows and Dance of Dragons.
I'd say the first four books. It's been a couple of years since I read them, but this takes place during book 3, and I'm including book 4 as a buffer for any overlap.

Yeah. You definitely need to finish book 3 first or there will be major spoilers even though the game has no impact on the books, the events of the books impact the story.
Despite being a fan of ASOIAF myself, I'd also discourage you from buying the game. It's a good miniseries/TV show, but as a game, it's awful. Your input has no impact. I'd recommend watching a let's play on youtube. It's less aggravating.
