My game is windowed and I can't maximize the screen!

I'm sorry if this is an obvious answer - I know it should be. Where do you gind settings/graphics? When I click settings it goes into my steam settings, and I see no graphics option.

I think alt + enter does it if you cant find in game options.

Are you clicking the wrong settings. On the main menu, where it says PLAY, there is an arrow on the right, Click that until you come across SETTINGS. You should be able to set it to fullscreen and change the resolution, as well as tweak stuff like music and subtitles. I can't see why it'd open the Steam overlay or anything.
