I think it was just so absurd you aren't supposed to question it.
It seems to be an in-joke, part of their corporate culture, maybe a team-building thing. Rhys would of course be familiar with it. I thought it was just a nice touch, then suddenly out of nowhere, in the middle of a tense infiltration, there's that giant finger-gun fight in Ep4 like something out of Kill Bill, and I was grinning like an idiot.
