Tales has to be the best borderlands game in terms of it's story

Let me start by saying BL2 is one of my all time favourites

With that being said, the writing in 2 has aged poorly and is mostly cringe humour that rarely lands (Let's not even get into the mess of a story that is BL3)

I don't know how telltale did it again but the story is so engaging and fun, the humour still holds up and character deaths actually make me feel something.

Ofcourse it's a telltale game so there's barely and engaging gameplay but the music, art style, the pacing..... Everything is perfect

It is, because it's completely story oriented, while most of the Borderlands games are actually shooters flavoured with story. Great shooters that is btw, not an insult to them in any way, just phrasing. So it's just probably boils down to the fact that this game just doesn't focus on anything besides story.

Its huge difference when you dont have to focus on combat and graphics. On top of that, good writers.

Love this game so much, that it made me want more, so I purchased the other Borderlands game, and I have still not played game, they are not what I expected, I tried them. I will end up playing them of course. But still, the telltale game is a master piece.

Other Borderlands games are indeed shooters flavoured with story..

..flavoured with meh story that has some few memorable moments here and there (mostly in DLCs)

While here they could not afford a meh story since there is no awesome gameplay to carry this game.

So yea makes sense why this one has best story as OP mentioned.
